Is it ableist that my dad didn't believe that I have LVAS and due to that am deaf in my right ear until I was 13? And even after then the doesn't think it's a "real disability" and has always encouraged me to do things that I cannot (contact sports, because of the risk of losing more or all of my hearing) I wonder how he would've reacted if I were to become fully deaf.....I've always been at risk to loose my other ear
Absolutely.
First of all, basically just denying you're disabled (and your experiences) by saying it's not a real disability.
Second of all, trying to make you do things you know (and I assume he has been told) you cannot do.
None of that is okay.
I honestly wonder how he'd react too. From this information, probably not great though.
