2024 has passed, just like this tram, leaving memories behind. The new year has just begun - it's interesting to think about what it will bring to each of us?

Starting the Railway requires tier 2 Person of Some Importance status.

I normally think of POSI as being gated by attributes, and that is indeed the primary requirement (100 in all attributes for tier 1, and 200 in at least one for tier 2). But there are other requirements. Notably for this challenge, tier 1 requires completing Sufficient Importance, and all of the non-fate options for that require something locked behind MYN*.

But that's tier 1. Can I skip directly to tier 2?

According to the wiki, the storylets for unlocking tier 2 available do not require tier 1. So far, so good.

But it does requires notability 5. The primary way to get notability is through A Visit from Slowcake's Amanuensis, and that's locked behind POSI. That's not the only way to get Notability, though.

The first alternative is to have someone already notable Recommend an Unknown Acquaintance. That gives one point of notability, and requires the recipient to not have any. That might be a problem, but social actions are a little weird: it might be possible to have 5 people send notability at once and go straight from 0 to 5 that way. This will require some experimentation.

But if that fails, there is another way: weddings! A sufficiently elaborate wedding gives 2 notability.

Part of the point of this challenge was to force me to engage with content I otherwise would not, so a plan requiring me to have an elaborate wedding then a divorce and then another equally elaborate wedding just seems right.

I have quite a lot of grinding to do first, though.
