Happy Father’s Day?
Man, I got to Lio Junior's introduction in Beast Wars II. I didn't actually find him to be annoying, but rather got much more concerned with how other characters treated him and the way they talked about him.
Lio Jr is unequivocally a child. Not only that, his only prior mentor/teacher/friend/companion was a lion who couldn't talk or transform. He didn't even have a name until Tasmania Kid jokingly called him Lio Junior. Lio Convoy and Skywarp calling him a spoiled child was baffling to me. Because in what way does he actually act or talk like a spoiled child??? He's lonely and confused! He thought he found someone in Lio Convoy! This is actually really understandable!
Skywarp and Santon forcing him to merge with them was really uncomfy. "Oh, but the situation-" They've fought Galvatron off before. No reason they couldn't do it again. Why are two adults he's never met forcing him to merge with them?!
And, man, Star Saber would be ashamed of Lio Convoy's behavior as a father! Like, sure, his initial denial makes sense because huh??? But, after the explanation, Convoy still acts pretty coolly towards him and basically insists that Lio Jr put being a child soldier first and it won't be until after this whole thing til Convoy really acknowledges him as his son. And, like... How much more danger would Junior actually be in if the Destrons knew than anyone else while still on the planet? Realistically? The Destrons had pulled traps to kidnap others before. Convoy being so distant is not going to help Junior in the future (especially from some spoilers I've seen).
(This may get a little "Erm, actually ☝️🤓")
Is anyone else tired of Hasbro reusing Optimus Prime ? Not that I have anything against the big bot, but I feel like they should give the spotlight to other Autobot leaders, like Star Saber, Lio Convoy and Lio Junior (I'm surprised Lio is the only Cybertron Supreme Commander to ever have an offspring), Big Convoy and my all-time favorite, FIRE CONVOY ! For those who are scratching their heads while looking at the 1st image, Robots in Disguise (or Car Robots as it's known in Japan) is actually part of the Japanese Generation 1 continuity (or JG1). I think Fire has the potential to be a successor to Optimus and Rodimus, kinda like what Miles Morales is to Peter Parker.
Is it just me, or does Fire Convoy look a little… Adolescent ?
