Heart Motherwort

We have no legitimant members of this genera native to the United States, instead most have been introduced during settlement in the 1800′s and have expanded since. This species, while not bad in Ohio is considered dangerous in many southern states as a possible invasive species. If you see this plant feel free to pull it or report and monitor it. Early warnings for potentially noxious weeds are critical for both the study and the containment stratigy.

Leonurus cardiaca - Mother wort - Tiny Leaf Pendant This is an itty bitty amulet pendant of a baby motherwort leaf. This leaf was taken respectfully from the Bastyr University garden. Motherwort is about giving time for choices, calming or holding space for fiery emotions, stress, fear, and pain. A sense of mothering, by outside forces, or finding the strength within ourselves.
