Hurts to say goodbye.
so i've just hit 100 hours in bg3
and i have this urge to restart my Mori run because she's grown SO MUCH in my mind and i feel like i missed SO MANY camp interactions from not knowing they would appear in a long rest...
so i may replay the game with her in a higher difficulty in a later run. i just love her so much. and she's so much more polished now.
Mori x Astarion drabble - Heartless
"Just that you... have a big heart. You like doing what's right."
...
That sentence rested in Mori's mind like a torch in a blibberbang field. She didn't think a sentence like that had ever graced her ears.
She knew Astarion's play. She knew she was being used. She didn't care. It was familiar, in a way. The rite of false acceptance. He would tease, he would touch, he would tempt. It was a welcome respite, given everything they'd faced in recent weeks. Meeting him reminded her of home -- which, normally, she would detest entirely -- but this time, she didn't mind the essence of her past. Being so far away from her beginnings had made her long for them, in a way.
There were too many nice people around. It was unnerving. Astarion's false reassurances gave her more peace than any of the heroism exhibited by her traveling companions.
He checked on her often. She didn't exactly know why. All she knew was that the more time passed, the more frequent his visits became. Maybe it was because she offered him wine. Maybe it was because she offered herself.
She wasn't surprised by the vampirism. If anything, it made her like him more. Few people understand the cost of running from something. His hunger made him understand need. He valued secrecy. She did the same.

Mori Lore Ideas
so...
i've been looking into drow lore and i think i have a more concrete idea as to what Mori's lore/backstory should be
and i'm thinking that she grew up surrounded by Lolth-sworn drow. and perhaps she herself lived that way for a while. being a sorcerer, i can see how (depending on station, which is a whole other conversation) her magic could be seen as a blessing from Lolth and a tool to serve the spider queen.
as i learn more and see more of Mori, it would make sense to me that she was a fairly notable servant of the spider queen for the formative years of her life. probably through her thirties and forties. this was when a shift happened. maybe she was ordered (by someone high ranking? someone she worked for? i don't know) to kill someone she loved. maybe she had something else taken from her. maybe she was ordered to do something at the cost of her own life. this option is my favorite. whatever happened (detailed lore pending), it made her realize (some of) the nature of her position and caused her to leave her life behind.
again, some ambiguity here, but maybe she killed anyone who would go looking for her. maybe she seamlessly escaped. maybe she led everyone to believe she was dead. regardless, she used her knowledge and skills to choose to live a life for herself, not any god or any higher authority/power. she became a criminal. and it was a life she enjoyed. that's when the nautiloid came.
for the first time, Mori's encountering people who care about her as a person and who may be trustworthy. and it's a tricky thing to navigate. she doesn't want to trust anyone. but she's learning that it might not cost as much as she thought to try.
quite literally researching drow lore so i can know what the hell is going on with Mori. so if anybody has suggestions or resources lmk. circus nation rise up i guess.
