This is opalized wood from Virgin Valley, Nevada! It is a type of petrified wood in which the plant cells have been replaced with butterscotch colored opal.
Opalized wood from this locale is fluorescent because it contains uranium! This specimen is detectably radioactive. So even though it looks like butterscotch, please don't eat it!

Tasmania’s enigmatic Eastern quoll (Dasyurus viverrinus) is an outsized predator whose bite strength is amongst the strongest on earth. They also glow sometimes.
I believe this is the first biofluorescence documented in the species in a wild setting, or at the very least would be amongst the clearest imagery. What a surreal experience to have a small group of them hang out for hours.

i only have two phosphorescent rocks and this is one of them, it’s a tiny piece of calcite! it only phosphoresces under short-wave UV light! (if i put it under long wave it fluoresces hot pink! but doesn’t keep glowing after i take the uv off)
the longest visible phosphorescence lifespan was OVER FOUR YEARS!! it was a piece of fluorite!
im actually unbelievably hype for fluorescence as hard as it is to spell it is gonna be a maisie peters spring and no one is taking this away from me
