12: What headcanon will you keep implementing in your fics, even if canon ends up contradicting it?

I have a few of these:

1) Maiko are married soon after the end of the war, an elopement on Ember Island in which only the Gaang + Iroh + the Kyoshi Warriors are invited. I even wrote a fic about it!

2) Bumizumi get together and have Iroh II and Mizuki. And I will DIE ON THAT HILL (y’all can keep calling Izumi’s daughter ‘Ursa II’ all you want, I’m sticking to Mizuki 😂). Not as a fling, mind you–an established relationship

3) Harry becomes a DADA Prof after his kids graduate Hogwarts. That’s one of my current WIPs!

4) THE KATAANG KIDS ARE MIXED IN APPEARANCE AND CULTURE

14: What trope would you refuse to write even if you were paid to do it?

Enemies to lovers without passing friends on the way. Also ABO and ANYTHING involving sm*t is a no for me, sorry! And I won’t write romance for any of my NOTPs, and I won’t write anything bashing the Weasleys

POV–Something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective

For this, I decided to rewrite part of my Zuko & Aang oneshot (for my Soulmate AU) from Zuko’s POV instead of Aang’s:

“Of course, you know nothing of fathers. Being raised by monks.” Zuko’s sneer feels hollow, and he pushes down the spark of jealousy that rushes through him. What could he possibly have to be jealous–

Then his eyes catch on the young Avatar’s right hand. It’s red, not swollen but clearly pained. And though Zuko should feel satisfaction, he can feel nothing but anger. The Avatar is a child, younger than Zuko himself, and a pacifist to boot. Who would dare hurt him?

You would, a part of him whispers, but he shakes the thought away, because he’s not. He’s not hurting this boy. He wouldn’t. He’s just capturing him, taking him somewhere where he can’t hurt anyone with his powers. How dare anyone–?

“Please st-stop,” the boy stammers, jolting Zuko out of his thoughts, “you-you’re only m-making it h-hurt…”

Well, that’s an interesting development. “Take him to his cell,” Zuko instructs the guards, more sharply than before. The guards hasten to obey, and Zuko watches the boy as they leave, struggling against the pain. He wonders what he could’ve done to aggravate a soulmark’s pain.

A horrible realization strikes him, but he brushes it away. Soulmates aren’t assigned, they’re made, everyone knows that. And why in the world would anyone ever look at him and want to even be friends?

This is like asking me to choose a favorite child 😂 but right now it’s a toss-up between my Bumizumi AU and my Morgan Wells AU. Tho the soulmate AU is VERY close to my favorite!

I count my AUs as one big wip each, even if they’re multi-part, so I’d say...maybe 4? I know you said not to count, but I’m gonna list them anyway:

-Bumizumi Time Travel AU [tentatively called “history is gonna change,” the first installment is called “won’t wait for time (we’re living for tonight)”]

-ATLA Soulmate AU [called “I dare you (to love)”]

Huh, turns out it’s 7. But the HP AUs haven’t been plotted or named 😂 they’re on the backburner for now. A Heavy Cost has been titled and plotted, and I’m in the middle of writing it, but ATLA and the Flash take priority in my mind right now 🤷‍♀️

But there was Mai to worry about–Mai, who might’ve heard some of these awful things, who might’ve internalized them. He had to do something about it...but what?

Or: Zuko overhears some unflattering gossip about Mai on multiple occasions and decides that he's put off marrying Mai for long enough. What better way to do it than to spite the naysayers?

“Were there any scenes you were nervous about? Audience reception or otherwise?”

Well, I mentioned that I’m going to include a lot of platonic affection. Some of that is cuddling, and especially Izumi cuddling Zuko. Since they’re roughly going to be the same age (Izumi being a time-traveling 16-year-old and Zuko also being 16), I’m nervous that people are gonna start shipping them 😂

I don’t intend to deviate from my approach, since I feel it’s important to showcase affection as not inherently romantic, but...people ship weird things sometimes. So if possible, I wanna avoid any Izumi/Zuko shipping (I’m probably gonna make fun of it in the fic as a preemptive measure 😂)

(The reason I’m using future tense is because this fic is still in the plotting stages, I haven’t actually written anything yet. But what I’m saying here is pretty much set in stone)
