So, before we officially agreed on the distinction between sex and gender, we would use the term ‘transsexual’ to refer to people who wished to socially and/or medically transition their gender, correct? And now, obviously, we use ‘transgender’ instead, because its more accurate. And because of this, the term ‘transsexual’ has kind of fallen out of use, although it still exists.

Now here’s what I’m thinking. Typically, words that include -sexual refer to someones sexuality, correct? (Asexual, bisexual, polysexual, pansexual, etc.) So... by that logic, the term ‘transsexual’ could have two meanings:

1) Someone who is exclusively sexually attracted to transgender people (which is perfectly valid and no doubt already exists, although if people with this orientation do use this term i have not seen it)

or..

2) Someone who has transitioned their sexuality

Hear me out.

Say an AMAB person, who is attracted exclusively to men, identifies as a homosexual man for a portion of his life. Then, upon coming out as a transgender woman, she is still attracted to men. Therefore, the definition of her sexuality would change, or transition, from homosexual to heterosexual. So, by this definition, she could very well be technically considered ‘transsexual’ in that regard.

I’ve heard the term GSM has been invaded by cishet people who have kinks that they feel make them a sexual minority.

Oh my goodness -- that's definitely a very different perspective that I haven't heard at all before.
