I know this isn't the usual content I post here, but I really wanted to talk about this here.
Please listen to Ravish Kumar, an Indian journalist. He's carrying India's journalism on his back entirely for YEARS. Just like the US, the Indian media is mostly full of right wing propaganda, and labelling the opposition, and literally anyone else who criticizes the government as anti nationals, traitors, terrorists, and many others ridiculous names.
India is ranked #142 in the Global Press Freedom Index 2020. The media here always praises the government, hosting abusive and dramatic debates which promote communalism, casteism, sexism, and so much more. The opposition here has been silenced completely, by the media, mostly.
Ravish Kumar, who is in a channel called NDTV India, always speaks about various problems going on in India in his prime time shows on the channel. Issues like unemployment, casteism, various crimes, corruption, fake promises by politicians, rising covid cases, economic recession, sexism, poverty, scams, and everything which isn't shown in the majority of media channels- is shown to us by Ravish. He has also faced numerous death threats before by right wing nationalists because of fake news and fake videos about him circulated on social media. He still faces a lot of abuses and threats on social media and real life, but he still stands on his ground.
Ravish won the Ramon Magsaysay Award- which is also known as the highest journalism award in Asia- in 2019. In his award speech, he quoted, "Not all battles are fought for victory. Some are fought to tell the world that someone was there on the battlefield."
He also wrote a book called "The Free Voice: On Democracy, Culture and the Nation" which speaks about how press freedom is important to maintain a healthy and stable democracy. He continues to speak about the toxic and nationalist Indian media- and how the population is being brainwashed with propaganda, and are encouraged to discriminate against each other.
Let's learn more about India. India is facing a crisis about their media. Please share and do some research about this.
Are you paying attention?
Whenever a report/opinion piece critical of the government gets published, government or its supporters do not disprove the piece or claims made in the piece. They straightaway try to discredit the author or publication. Because it isn't this one piece that they want you not to read but even the subsequent ones. They don't want you for instance to watch Ravish Kumar - in toto - this is same Ravish Kumar who they used to praise, quote and tweet about when they were in opposition. They want you to convert into flock of sheep that only go where their master wants them to go. In the new robo-republic of Modi, he and his men want you to enroll into their army of robots. Sadly for the rational human society, or gladly for the new robo-republic, most of us have already switched off our thinking brains and switched on the revolving keys in our spines that bends as per master's hopes and wishes.
Welcome to Robo-republic.
Just heard Ravish Kumar on NDTV saying (not his exact words)
“Aaj se kuch saal baad ye nhi lgega ki Bharat me mahamari thi ya economy kamzor ho gyi thi par ye btaya jaayega ki Bharat me Sushant Singh Rajput ka dehant hi sabse bada crisis rha”
(A few years from now, it won’t seem like India went through a pandemic or an economic crisis but the biggest crisis in India at the time was the death of Sushant Singh Rajput)
And I mean... guys he’s right. It’s bad what happened to him, but there are many pressing matter in India right now. People are still living in the streets and people are still going out without masks or even maintaining social distancing all while the corona positive cases are skyrocketing.
But if we talk about SSR’s murder, it’s been more than 2 months and CBI or Mumbai Police has not uncoverd that much.
