Regrann from @hanifah_andini - "What if 200,000 #Palestinians headed peacefully to cross the border, while raising a poster that says they only want to go back to their land ? What would happen ?'' The Great March of Return will start on Land Day, March 30, and will continue for six weeks until May 15, which commemorates the Nakba. Palestinian refugees living in Gaza will set up tents near the border and move gradually - and #peacefully - closer. http://j.mp/2pSw1gj #LandDay #Gaza #Refugees #RightofReturn #Palestine #Nakba #GreatMarchofReturn #freepalestine #people #muslim #world #freedom #justice #resistance - #regrann

6 Palestinians have been killed and at least 500 wounded during the first day of what the organizers are calling ‘The Great Return March,’ 45 days of protests and events planned to mark 70 years since the Nakba. Updates will be posted as events unfold.
Thousands of Palestinians are protesting in Gaza near the border fence with Israel on Friday. The protest marks the beginning of the “Great Return March,” a 45-day series of events planned to culminate on May 15, Nakba Day. While the Israeli army has portrayed the march as a violent provocation organized by Hamas, the march’s organizers have stressed that the march is an apolitical, non-violent protest against the unbearable living conditions in Gaza and for the Palestinian right of return.

Tomorrow is July 4th or "Independence" Day in the USA (and July 1 was the equivalent in 'Canada') — a settler colonial nation living on the land of the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island. At Creating Freedom Movements, we are committed to #LandBack — here on Turtle Island, and around the world.
We are reposting work from @wgssa.utsc and @tupacistan, created for IDEVAW (Nov 25) '23 and Land Day (March 30) 2024, drawing connections between sexual & colonial violence, focused on the ways that Indigenous Consent is ignored, coerced, negotiated, violated, and enforced. The teachings in this post are primarily from the @yellowheadinstitute 'Spectrum of Consent' as explored in the Land Back Red Paper and from the @palestinianfeministcollective and their work against Colonial Feminism, Reproductive Genocide, and more.

original caption, via @wgssa.utsc — For almost 9 months now, we have been witnessing violent escalation of the 75+ year long occupation of Palestine.
On #IDEVAW 2023 the Palestinian Feminist Collective (PFC) called on feminist co-strugglers and all people of conscience to once and for all #ShutDownColonialFeminism and for Feminists to #SayNoToGenocide
WGSSA UTSC is a critical & intersectional feminist collective. In solidarity with PFC "We reaffirm that Palestine is a feminist issue and assert that feminism is incompatible with Zionism."
This post includes teachings from Yellowhead Institute & PFC to connect the dots between Indigenous Movements like #LandBack & meaningful Consent Action.

expansion of the existing Sexual Misconduct Disclosure in hiring policy to ALL employees. We believe this can + should be used to require disclosure of military service in the IOF and/or other militaries that have been credibly accused of weaponizing sexual violence as a tool of warfare + terror

— A Note from DGM's Founder/Editor in Chief: It's been a few years y'all... almost 10 since the founding of this blog & e-zine. a lot has changed and if i were to start this again, i would NOT call it desi girl mag — also I use they/she pronouns now, heavy on the they! but here's some work I'd done recently — not sure if anyone even follows DGM on tumblr anymore but if there is still community, i'd love to revitalize our space and make it truly serve the desires of everyone. perhaps we do a comeback issue checking in on formerly featured artists + creators, writers, and staff members? let's see!

#Repost @jewishvoiceforpeace with @make_repost ・・・ Today, we recognize Palestinians’ deep roots in their land and honor the steadfastness and resilience of those who have resisted land theft by the Israeli government, military, and settlers. This day commemorates Palestinian land defenders from every era: those across historic Palestine who went on a mass strike to protest the Israeli takeover of their land in the Galilee on this day in 1976; the Great March of Return protesters of Gaza who began fighting for Palestinians’ right of return on this day in 2018; and those who continue to resist encroaching Israeli settlement, home demolition, and displacement everyday — from the Naqab to Masafer Yatta to Sheikh Jarrah and beyond. We mourn the tens of thousands whom the Israeli military murdered or permanently injured for their resistance. In their memory, we recommit to supporting Palestinians in their struggle to end Israeli settler-colonialism and ethnic cleansing, and get their right of return. This year, that means supporting the #DefundRacism campaign to end the laundering of money from “charitable” US-based Zionist organizations to Israeli settler organizations actively engaged in violence against and displacement of Palestinians. Swipe for more information and protests happening in your city, and take action at the link in bio or defundracism.org. #LandDay #LandDay2022 #freepalestine #palestine #antiracist #anticolonialism #jewsforpalestine #jewsagainstapartheid #jewsagainstzionism #apartheid #israeliapartheid #humanrights https://www.instagram.com/p/Cbu7ABsup64/?utm_medium=tumblr

Commemorating the 43rd anniversary of Land Day and inspired by the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center - PCRSC's public screening of this film this afternoon, I watched Japanese documentary film director Makoto Satō's final film, Out of Place: Memories of Edward Said (2005), It was named Best Documentary at the 2006 Mainichi Film Awards. This short clip towards the end says it all...and I assume we are expected to roll over and play dead, NOT!
