Η Βάθεια είναι κτισμένη στην κορυφή λόφου. Ο οικισμός αναπτύχθηκε μετά τον 18ο αιώνα από την εγκατάσταση των οικογενειών Καραμπατιάνοι, Μιχαλακιάνοι, Καλληδωνιάνοι και Κουτριγάροι και με κάθε μετέπειτα γενιά ο οικισμός γινόταν και πιο πυκνός. Σήμερα καλύπτει έκταση 17 στρεμμάτων και αποτελείται από 70 σπίτια, 4 εκκλησίες και πέντε λιοτρίβια. Για την ασφάλεια των κατοίκων του οικισμού κτίστηκαν και δύο πολεμόπυργοι.

I just watched the episode with Laconia, the elf that was mute and spoke in sign, and I do think it's nice that the writers didn't feel the need to "fix" her.

Like yeah, the characters in the show mention wanting to give her a voice, because they genuinely are trying to be helpful, but I also like that the writers made it a point to show that she didn't want to be "fixed," she was happy the way she was

I'm not deaf or mute, I'm sleep deprived and weirdly sentimental/ emotional right now after my closing shift that ended at 2 am. I think it's a cool message they had back in the 80s, and I think it's cool they mentioned sign language and disabilities at all

I think if this were a modern day show, they'd probably bring up how the deaf/mute community have their own culture and show it a little through Laconia, which would be cool
