i’m rewatching tfa for the first time since before the pandemic and there is no fucking way that rey was not there when kylo slaughtered luke’s temple. she witnessed it but kylo couldn’t bring himself to kill his little cousin (the conflict within him etc etc) so he took her dropped her off on some desert planet and claimed she was dead too. tfa is all about rey realizing no one is coming back to jakku for her SHE needs to go out and seek her destiny. and instead of her family coming back for her the movie ends with HER going out and finding luke. rey skywalker daughter of luke i see you i understand the TRUTH.
