Mack was in the attic checking the Christmas decorations.

"What you doing up there" Lucy shouted.

"Sorting the Christmas stuff out" Mack said as he clambered down the attic steps.

"I bought loads last year so we'll just use those again" said Mack "And I did buy those Swarovski ones this year"

"You ok Mack?" Lucy asked

"Yes why?"

"Well you were chuntering on in your sleep" said Lucy "How did it go with Cain yesterday?"

"Well he wasn't best pleased with Moira going but he was OK in the end. I told him we were looking after the farm and the garage for the foreseable" Mack answered.

"Yes you were having a right conversation with someone in your sleep" said Lucy "You were going on about Kyle"

"I wasn't was I?" Mack asked feeling guilty.

"Then you were calling your mum" said Lucy.

"Look if I tell you something will you promise not to tell a soul" said Mack.

"Oh No" said Lucy "What's happened now?"

"Cain didn't kill Al. It was Kyle" Mack told Lucy.

"Your kidding me Mack" Lucy gasped.

"Straight up" said Mack "That's why Amy took Isaac to Ireland and why Moira's gone as well. She couldn't handle living here and having to lie to everyone"

"It was an accident but apparantly he's reached the age of criminal responsibility according to Moira" Mack explained.

"Yes That's right" said Lucy "He's ten so he can be charged but they would have to prove it was an accident"

"But how?" Mack asked.

"Well Cain has made it worse I'm afraid by concealing the truth, but there again he was only trying to protect his child" said Lucy "Which is understandable"

"It's a total mess" said Mack "But you can't tell Aaron or Matty Lucy. Absolutely no one"

"You have my word Mack" said Lucy.

"Well I have to admit I'm not sorry about Al after what he and Chas were up to" said Mack "Aaron is right If it wasn't for them Liv would still be alive and Cain wouldn't be in jail"

"I wish I hadn't told you now" said Mack getting up from the table and putting his arms round Lucy. You've had enough worry"

"No Mack you had to talk to someone" said Lucy. "Shh here's Aaron now"

"Did you see Dan?" Mack asked Aaron.

"Yes he's happy to keep the garage going" said Aaron. "How did it go with Cain?"

"Well he was a angry at first as you can imagine but he calmed down eventually" said Mack.

"Still Don't get why did Moira just up and left" said Aaron.

"Well like I told Cain she wasn't coping and she wanted the boys to be together" Mack explained. "How did it go with Vinny?" asked Mack.

"It was sad" said Aaron breaking down. "My little sister isn't coming back Mack" Aaron sobbed as Mack put his arms round him.

"It's been a traumatic day for you Aaron" said Mack giving him another hug.

"Just imagine if Vinnie knew about Chas and Al it would crush him even more" said Aaron "He's just scattered Liv's ashes. It would kill him if he knew it was because of those two that Liv died"

"That poor lad" said Mack "This village is cursed I swear"

"What an awful mess" said Lucy "All we can do is support each other"

"Absolutely" said Mack "Lucy and I are here for you Aaron and I'm sorry I couldn't be with you today"

"I'd never have got through this if it wasn't for you two" said Aaron "You've kept me strong"

"To be honest Lucy has kept both of us strong" said Mack.

"She has" Aaron replied "She's one in a million and it can't have been easy Lucy with all the scares you've had with your pregnancy"

"We three keep each other strong Lucy replied. "I absolutely love the two of you"

"Did Lawrence get off alright Mackenzie?" Moira asked her brother as he came into the farm.

"Yes I saw him onto the train" Mack replied. "Thanks for letting him stay here Moira"

"He's lovely boy Mack you should be proud" said Moira "He helped Kyle to do the Starwars jigsaw Kyle got for your birthday"

"You ok Moira?" asked Mack who sensed there was a tinge of stress in his sisters voice.

"Oh Mackenzie" Moira said bursting into tears. "I'm heartbroken"

"What's happened. Is Cain alright?" Mack asked his sister.

"It's Kyle Mack" Moira sobbed. "It was him that shot Al and Cain's taking the rap for it" she blurted out.

"No not Kyle. Not my precious boy?" said Mack hugging his sister.

Moirs nodded. "It was a complete accident" Moira said explaining what Cain had told her.

"Poor kid will be going through hell" said Mack "I know exactly how he feels. The trauma will stay with him and I should know"

"How come?" Moira asked.

"Nothing" said Mack wishing he could bite his to tongue off.

"Come on. Out with it" said Moira.

"I know what it feels like to shoot someone" Mack replied.

"You're not making sense Mackenzie" said Moira.

"I shot mum" said Mackenzie not able to look his sister in the eye.

"My God Mack. Is that how she died?" Moira asked in disbelief.

"No Moira I was a kid" Mack went on to explain. "It was the day dad broke my leg. He'd found my school book the one I'd written all over saying that I loved this boy in my class. He said no son of his was a Nancy boy and he went berserk and said he'd beat it out of me"

"God no" said Moira.

"He then beat mum saying it was her fault I was like I was because she was too soft with me" Mack went on.

"He got his shotgun out and threatened me with it" Mack explained. "The one he had to shoot rabbits with"

"I remember that shotgun" said Moira "God I hated it when he brought the dead rabbits home"

"Mum tussled with him to try and get the gun off him but he grabbed it back. I leapt at him and grabbed the gun to try and save mum. I managed to get the gun off him but as I turned round he pushed me on the floor and the gun went off shooting mum. The next thing I felt a horrific pain in my leg when he stamped on my leg breaking it as I lay on the floor"

"Oh my God Mack" said Moira.

"I thought I'd killed mum but it turned out to be a superficial wound but there was so much blood" Mack explained.

"He was an absolute beast"" said Moira. "God I hate him"

"She had to have the bullet removed in hospital. Moira, it left me traumatised that's why I'm such a wuss now. It scared the hell out of me" Mack explained. " I thought I'd killed my mum that is so hard to live with"

"Mack it would scare the hell out of any child" said Moira.

"Mum told the police she'd shot herself cleaning the shotgun" said Mack "They wanted to know I got all tbe bruises and the broken leg so I had to say I fell off my bike"

"Didnt they want to know how mum got her bruises?" Moira asked. "Did they arrest dad?" Moira asked.

"No" Mack replied.

"Why didn't they arrest him for beating mum" Moira asked.

"Well it was different back then. The police didn't like to get involved in domestics" Mack explained "I told them I fell off my bike and broke my leg and they believed my and mum's story. They could see she was beaten but like I said it was different back then"

"My God he was evil" said Moira.

"We had to lie because we were both terrified of him Moira" said Mack "But I remember the guilt. It stayed with me for a long time"

"You cannot tell anyone about Kyle Mack" said Moira "Promise me"

"You have my word" said Mackenzie giving his sister a hug "And please don't tell Aaron or Lucy that I shot mum. They know dad broke my leg but not all the details"

"I won't say a word Mack. I promise" said Moira.

"So I know what Kyle's going through poor kid. I love both your boys as if they were my own Moira" said Mack wiping his eyes.

"And they both worship you Mack" Moira replied.

Daily Conundrum - Cains Confession.

So Kyle shot Al. The writers must think we are stupid. Cain needs to be there for his family. They will suffer more Cain going down for life. He would get around 30 years and Kyle would get a lighter sentence if any. Cain lying is making a bad situation worse.

And why tell Chas to keep quiet because if it comes out it's the motive Cain needs to convince the police he did it. They can easily tell who fired the shot anyway from Cains clothing.
