I still find Bear’s storyline harrowing
Bear’s speech was a really nice reminder of why the storyline (although having moments not everyone liked) was so important hopefully it has helped some of the people affected and it’s definitely spread awareness
After all this time and all thats happened …
…and I still haven’t got a clue to what was actually wrong with Bear before he left and got swallowed whole into the modern slavery s/l.
His memory lapses, bouts of rage and lashing out … what was that all about?? Granted I skipped around A LOT during this storyline so did I miss a psyche evaluation and diagnosis?? He was a vulnerable person that got taken advantage of, but how did he become that person? Something was obviously going on cognitively before he disappeared, but I don’t think we’ve gotten an explanation. Or again I may have missed it. To me, there was much more going on than just old age and depression.

Bear is on the phone to Paddy, who took a while to call him back due to Kyle going missing.
Paddy tells his dad, he spoke to Robert and Aaron and told them to leave you alone.
Bear taking a more sympathetic tone, than Paddy says he were only trying to help.
Paddy says... Dad, you were a mess earlier, and I know you feel awful about what's happening to Moira, we all do, but don't put that on your shoulders. Not on top of everything else.
Bear says but what if I do know summat that can help her? I mean, maybe Robert were right, that this is her last chance.
Paddy asks him... And is there something else?
Bear says... I don't know but I want there to be.

Back with Robert and Bear.
Robert is thinking.
He tells Bear... ok, right, let's take this slow. There's no rush.
He continues.... They took you out, right? to work?
Bear agrees... Sometimes, aye.
Robert adds... But never to Moira's cos you'd have known?
Bear says... I guess. Maybe. I don't know... I suppose I didn't know when we buried Anya there.
Robert asks... You don't remember any of the places they took you too?
Bear says... not really no, cos I were in the back of the van.... And when they did let us out, everywhere looked the same. We could've been anywhere.
Bear adds... I mean, I had no idea I was so close to home.
Robert asks... So you didn't see any addresses? You didn't see any road signs? You didn't meet any of the people they worked with? Or for? You didn't hear any names?
Bear again snaps at him... He shouts... No, Robert! How many more times? I told the police everything.... And no-one else deserves to get in trouble for this, because this is all my fault.... No-one else deserves this. No-one.
Robert says to him... I know what it's like, being inside. It's not easy is it?
Robert says... I'm sorry if I've upset you. That's not what I wanted.
Bear stands up to bring the visit to an end but says... I just wish I could've helped.
Robert says... Bear... None of this is your fault.
Bear asks... Then whose is it? He walks away from Robert & the visiting room.
Robert slumps back, frustrated he couldn't get anything from Bear that is going to help clear Moira's name.
Emmerdale 12.04.26 Part 4
Robert is visiting Bear,
Bear asks Robert... So what is it that you want from me?
Robert replies... Anything. I just need to find something that proves Moira had no idea what Ray and Celia were up to.
Bear tells Robert... I've already told the police everything I know. And I told Cain. Does he know you're here?
Bear continues... Cos he's been warned off before for trying to bend my arm.
Robert tells him... No. And I'd appreciate it we just... If we keep this between us.
Bear asks... Why?
Robert says... I don't wanna get anyone's hopes up, that's all.
Bear says to him... Well, I've got nothing to give you. I've done my best.
Robert begs... Please Bear, we've only got until tomorrow. There's gotta be something. You were there for months.
Bear snaps at him... You think I don't know that?!
Which draws the attention of the prison guard,
Robert tells the guard.... It's OK. It's my fault.
The guard moves on.
Robert leans in & says to Bear... Sorry. We're OK aren't we?
Bear nods, having settled down.

In prison, Bear has a visitor, he's confused because he wasn't expecting Paddy to visit him until tomorrow he gazes over the visiting room & sees his visitor today is not his son, but Robert.
Bear asks Robert... what are you doing here?
Robert tells him... I need your help.
