I believe the current regime in charge of this show would deadass do both those things in order to avoid writing an actual story for something.

If you want to redeem him that's fine, I don't personally get the hype at all but that's irrelevant. Put in the actual effort to redeem him then. It's genuinely disturbing to hand wave away everything you initially wrote just to avoid actually doing the work. And the fact that they would be forced to address it at least somewhat if Robert was a female character is maddeningly frustrating. Just because it happened to a male character doesn't magically make it not abuse. Just acknowledge and address. It's really not that hard. This is just lazy.

Maybe Sky will clean some house since they apparently want to invest in the shows. Otherwise we're likely stuck because no one currently running ITV is going to do anything about her.

Because she genuinely isn't capable and obviously has no idea how to structure a storyline properly let alone tell one from beginning to end. So here we all are.

Very likely. They're probably going to kill off her, Jimmy and Vinny because they're allergic to writing actual stories. They'll kill all three off in the same accident and give Mandy one episode of grief. Joe will get more because they'll want Graham to get some focus and then it will be full steam ahead to Nicola and the Jimmy knock-offs new relationship because they're also allergic to writing any kind of actual resolution to the stories. They all just morph into entirely different plots than what they started out as.

Robert might actually be the most devoted partner in that entire village. And Robron basically have one of the strongest relationships in the entire village, maybe even the strongest. Spare me the faux outrage.
