Everybody doubling down on 'selling' him shows they know he needed a redemption arc to be genuinely viable longterm. It also proves they have zero intention of actually writing one because she's completely inept at her job and has no fundamental understanding of how storytelling is supposed to work. You have to actually TELL a story.
If you want to redeem him that's fine, I don't personally get the hype at all but that's irrelevant. Put in the actual effort to redeem him then. It's genuinely disturbing to hand wave away everything you initially wrote just to avoid actually doing the work. And the fact that they would be forced to address it at least somewhat if Robert was a female character is maddeningly frustrating. Just because it happened to a male character doesn't magically make it not abuse. Just acknowledge and address. It's really not that hard. This is just lazy.

Very likely. They're probably going to kill off her, Jimmy and Vinny because they're allergic to writing actual stories. They'll kill all three off in the same accident and give Mandy one episode of grief. Joe will get more because they'll want Graham to get some focus and then it will be full steam ahead to Nicola and the Jimmy knock-offs new relationship because they're also allergic to writing any kind of actual resolution to the stories. They all just morph into entirely different plots than what they started out as.
Cain tried to sleep with Charity. Charity did sleep with Ross. Cain has treated Moira like actual shit since she got released from prison. Joe is basically a fraud of a human and lies to Dawn on the daily. Rhona almost physically cheated on Marlon with Graham, and did have an emotional affair with him.

Finally able to watch the episode. Loved seeing both Robert and Aaron on screen together and looking as good as they both do. Hopefully they get some softer moments at some point.
I am officially suspicious of Serena. I genuinely like her and definitely want Robert to have her on his side but immediately bringing up John to Aaron was a very odd way to start a first conversation especially given that she knows most of what happened. And she keeps bringing him up to people. It's bizarre. So between that and the completely ridiculous and unnecessary connection they've given her to Kev I am at least a bit concerned. She's definitely hiding something. But please, oh please don't make her rotten.
I am also somewhat worried that they're going to have Nicola cheat on Jimmy with improve knockoff wannabe Jimmy prior to his departure. No. No. No.
