Not my art but easily my favorite angel dust art, gonna update shortly with the artist i gotta go digging haha //
As a dude who has regretted defacing his copy of G.I. Joe #2 (by doing the Twinkies maze on the back cover -- in crayon!) for almost 40 years, I *need* to have this.
GI Joe: A Real American Hero Issue 2, Vol 1, August 1982 Panic at the North Pole Scripter: Larry Hama Penciler: Don Perlin Inker: Jack Abel Letterer: Jim Novak Colorist: Bob Sharen Editor: Tom DeFalco Featured Joes: General Flagg, Stalker, Scarlett, Breaker, Snake Eyes Featured Foes: Kwinn Featured Vehicles and Playsets: None An arctic research station has been attacked. When the Joes investigate the facility’s closest neighbors, the Russian research base, they see a mysterious man with a dog sled and find the Soviet research team frozen to death in their compound. Debriefing A decent follow-up issue. Since there’s so much white, it’s not much to look at compared to the first issue, but it builds that sense of tension and risk from the first issue’s backup story. There’s some disappointing language and stereotyping again, this time for the Inuit anti-villain, Kwinn. Despite this, he’s a well-defined and interesting character that I’d like to see more of in the future. He gives the team a run for their money and they’re constantly at a disadvantage through most of the story, ultimately only approaching success because he allows it. There’s a lot of expository dialogue regarding the dead researchers that could have been revealed better over the course of the issue, but the story was still engaging.
