he could feel it coming, most days. he may not be as proficient at masquerading his emotions as heâd like to be, but heâd rehearsed this so carefully  &  so many times that it became ingrained in him, like second nature. itâs obviously not often ( at least, not as much as it used to be ) that he gets like this  â  heâs grown so much, been through so much to the point that this should be water under the bridge, a scar long since healed  &  forgotten in his journey. and it is those things, most days. Â
all it takes is the  smallest reminder to rip the wound open again, for years of repressed pain to come crashing down all at once, pushing him back down just as he started to find his footing  &  stand  confidently on his own. someone had once told him that healing is not linear, that heâll have highs  &  lows as long as heâs alive, and thatâs just the way it is. but why does he have to get this low? why now, when all he wants is to close this chapter of his life  &  be at peace with himself? is it asking for too much? hadnât he earned it yet?
jun had somewhat  mechanically accepted a while ago, now, that his family would never understand his dreams. he had no choice but to accept that.  but thereâs part of him still holding out hope that theyâll at least support him, and support him unconditionally. something in his heart vehemently refuses to abandon what his brain knows is a bit too close to a fairytale for both logicâs  &  comfortâs sake, but he canât help but want, crave their love  &  acceptance   â  their  grace. arenât they meant to be the people he can turn to for warmth when the cold reality of life hits him too hard? shouldnât they know him best, and encourage him, even through his many, many faults?  he isnât sound enough to be so candid with himself on the matter, quite yet, but he knows that they had never been those things. he had never known that kind of love.  they are the cold reality of life. but the inklings of warmth he gets from them every dazzling blue moon are cruel enough to make him hope, still, that things will change one day.
had he not overestimated his ability to keep it together, heâd have fled to the woods after classes  &  handled his emotional distress there, where no one could see him. but itâs too late for that, now   â  thus, heâs huddled up on his bed in his dorm, fighting to keep the braces of his composure intact, not wanting to break down in front of himself, even. but heâs already started to cry, his shoulders  &  hands are shaking  &  thereâs nothing he can do to stop it  â  his body is punishing him for holding these feelings in for too long, the harmony between his spirit  &  form shattered like broken trust. Â
and just as a few minutes of violent yet quiet sobs render him unstable, he hears someone coming near, then coming in. gods, no, not now. he knows the weight  &  speed of those footsteps by this point, and they are those of perhaps the last person in the world he would ever want to see him this way. his vision is too blurry due to the tears, but he manages to wipe them away in the spare seconds before he comes face-to-face with the other,  tucking his now-wet hands beneath the comforter. still, he canât necessarily erase the redness beneath his eyes, or the rawness of his voice, but heâll be damned if he doesnât try.
â go away, slacker, â he attempts, but his voice cracks woefully, and he sniffles, damnit, why canât you do anything right? â just go. itâs  â  itâs not a good time. â
