BLACK THUNDER !

jaden   chuckled   at   the   ojamas   -   and   the   chazz’s   outburst.   guess   -   he’d   have   to   wait   until   he   wasn’t   looking   to   sign   it.   man.   when   they   got   out   -   they   could   get   all   their   friends   to   sign   their   casts!   it’ll   be   a   sweet   keep-sake.   the   chazz  really   needed   to   learn  to  look  on  the  bright  side.     and   sure   -   it   hadn’t   gone   entirely   to   plan.   and   their   arms   were   -   a   little   broken.   but   it   could   have   been   worse!   they   could   have   broken   their   duel   disks   !      and   then   they’d   have   to   get   new   ones..   and   learn   to   use   them.   and   he   was   really   attached   to   his   -   so.   he   could   deal   with   the   broken   arm   -   he   was   sure   the   chazz   would   feel   the   same   .   if   he   just   got   him   to   see   his   point   of   view.   

“   well   -   yeah.   but   you   gotta   admit,   it   was   pretty   sweet   though   right   -   i   hadn’t   had   a   duel   that   exciting   in   weeks   !      so   thanks,   bro.   “      he   winks.   luckily   i   it   wasn’t   his   ‘gotcha’   arm   that   was   broken.      “we’ll   be   more   careful   next   time.”   

❝      i  don’t  remember  giving  you  permission  to  speak ！     ❞    he  didn’t  care  if  jaden  had  a  good  duel ,    his  arm.   was.   broken  ！  there  wasn’t  going  to  be  a  next  time.   he  can’t  believe  this  slacker  managed  to  rope  him  into  this  mess  in  the  first  place.   now  he  was  stuck  with  both  jaden  and  the  ojama’s ,    and  he  was  already  in  a  foul  mood  as  it  was  ！

his  once  pink  tinted  cheeks  revert  back  to  a  pale  tinge  as  narrowed  eyes  immediately  snap  towards  syrus ,   appalled  and  disgusted  as  if  by  the  boys  presence  alone.    alexis  now  out  of  his  mind ,   he  focuses  his  attention  onto  the  dweeb  beside  him ,   immediately  tackling  him  while  everyone  else  was  focused  on  other  things.

alone.   he  was  acting  like  jesse  was  his  entire  world.    maybe  he  was ,   from  that  annoying  look  on  jaden’s  face    ...   it  wasn’t  resolve ,   but  guilt ,   a  selfish  want.    it  pissed  him  off  to  no  end ,   yet  he  can’t  quite  get  the  frustration  into  words.    he  wasn’t  good  with  words  of  comfort ,   he  could  never  be  there  for  jaden  like  jesse  was.    even  in  this  short  amount  of  time  that  southern  hick  had  formed  a  stronger  bond  with  him  then  chazz  ever  could.    three  years.   it  had  taken  him  this  long  to  come  to  terms  with  his  underlying  feelings.   not  that  he’d  ever  admit  it  out  loud ,   especially  not  to  this  idiot.   he’s  jealous ,    clearly  so ,   but  he  can’t  find  it  in  himself  to  act  out  of  spite.    

❝  stop  being  a  moron.    i’m  not  here  to  stop  you.   even  if  it  is  a  dumb  move  on  your  end.    it’s  just  like  you ,   leaving  us  to  pick  up  the  pieces.   well ,   the  chazz  isn’t  being  left  out  of  this  battle ,   you’ll  need  my  help  if  you  want  to  come  back  at  all.       ❞      it  was  them ,   always  fighting  side  by  side ,   despite  chazz’s  constant  complaints.   jaden  wasn’t  allowed  to  shatter  that ,   no ,   that  chazz  didn’t  follow  his  lead ,    he  made  his  own  decisions  and  this  slifer  slacker  wasn’t  about  to  change  that. 

                                    he’d   been   duped,    a   perfectly   thought   out   plan   once   again   tarnished   by   the   sudden   intrusion   of   slifer’s   resident   slacker.      saliva   catches   in   his   throat   ,   his   outburst   forcibly   silenced   into   a   choked   gasp   ;      he   wasn’t   supposed   to   be   here   !       his   heart   had   been   set   on   alexis.    his   damp   hands   were   shaking   ,   sweating   more   so   now   that   he   had   taken   her   place   ,   but   why   ?       obviously   it   was   the   built   up   excitement   over   his   kiss   with   her   that   was   making   him   feel   this   way.      if   it   were   up   to   him   ,   he’d   tear   down   that   mistletoe   right   then   and   there   ;       he   could   since   he’d   been   the   one   to   put   it   up   in   the   first   place.  

                                    ❝   what   ,    have   you   come   for   a   kiss   ?    yeah   well   get   in   line.      if   you’re   really   so   desperate   ,   i   can   always   go   get   syrus   for   you   ,   keep   the   germs   quarantined   and   all.      you   can’t   catch   idiot   if   you’re   already   infected.   ❞     he   doesn’t   want   to   admit   the   fluster   creeping   up   on   him   ,   nor   pay   attention   to   how   dry   his   mouth   had   become.   did   this   slacker   even   know   what   he   was   doing   by   being   under   here   with   him   ?    what   ,   was   he   trying   to   mess   with   him   ?    maybe   he   didn’t   think   he’d   do   it.      that   would   be   just   like   jaden   ,   always   pulling   dumb   stunts   like   this   ,   always   testing   his   patience.

                                    THUD   THUD.      thud    thud.      he   was   sure   everyone   could   hear   the   pounding   of   his   heart   ,      it   drummed   loudly   within   his   ears   ,    drowning   out   all   other   sound   around   him.    he   could   do   this   ,    the   chazz   wasn’t   going   to   back   down   ,    not   without   it   being   obvious   as   to   why   he’d   been   here   in   the   first   place.      but   she   was   far   out   of   mind   right   now   ,    his   only   intent   resting   on   jaden.

                                    ❝      oh   just   hurry   up   already   !     ❞       he   directs   his   anger   to   jaden   ,   though   he   refuses   to   realise   those   words   are   meant   for   him.      grabbing   the   scuff   of   the   other’s   turtle   neck   ,   he   pulls   him   in   for   a   kiss   in   one   smooth   motion.      the   act   itself   ,   however   ,   is   less   polished   ,   teeth   smacking   together   in   a   rushed   movement   ,   lips   awkwardly   pressed   against   his   ,   scarcely   taking   in   time   to   feel   the   soft   touch   of   warmth   before   he’s   shoving   jaden   away   with   a   forceful   push.  

                                    despite   only   locking   lips   for   a   few   moments   ,    it’s   left   him   out   of   breath   ,   nervous   and   embarrassed   ,   frozen   within   his   own   shock.    he’d   done   it.    he’d   really   kissed    jaden.    the   racing   of   his   pulse   had   yet   to   simmer   either   ,   face   burning   a   brighter   red   then   ever   before   yet   his   gaze   could   only   narrow   from   their   widened   state   to   glare   daggers   at   the   victim   himself.  

christmas  headcanons :: 

-        chazz  doesn’t  return  home  for  christmas  and  spends  the  holidays  in  the  dorm  with  jaden  ,  so  they’ve  made  their  own  traditions  around  that  time  ,  even  if  he  isn’t  always  willing  to  participate  he  appreciates  it  immensely.  

-       he  does  receive  letters  from  his  brothers  during  the  holiday  but  he  doesn’t  open  them.   he  also  doesn’t  throw  them  away  either  ,  keeping  them  in  his  desk  draw  instead.  

-      he  doesn’t  care  too  much  about  christmas  but  he  isn’t  a  grinch  and  is  always  participating  in  events  and  one  uping  everyone  by  decorating  his  dorm  room  and  the  slifer  exterior  excessively.  

aha.   right.   jaden   pouted   -   both   at   his   friends   words   and   actions.   what   better   things   did   the   chazz   have   to   do   up   there.   he   was   obvious   just   avoiding   him   -   what   was   wrong?      come   on.   the   chazz   loved   attention  !    and   he   was   almost   always   game   to   humour   his   friend      -   even   if   he   ended   up   on   the   wrong   end   of   a   noogie   or   headlock.   no   .   the   chazz   wasn’t   going   to   brush   him   off   that   easily   -   with   a   couple   of   quick   actions.   and   a   foot   on   his   mattress   he   pulls   himself   high   enough   onto   the   bunk-bed   to   peek   over   the   edge   at   his   friend.   his   moping   friend.   

“   you   know   you’re   bein’   a   bit   unfair   bro.   what   had   jess   ever   done   to   you   ?   “   he   sighed   resting   his   chin   on   crossed   arms.      he   hadn’t   noticed   the   two   -   not   getting   along.   it   wasn’t   like   they’d   even   duelled   each   other   -   so   the   chazz   didn’t   have   a   reason   to   dislike   his   friend.   not   really.   plus   jess   was   really   nice   !   he’d   probably   be   able   to   handle   the   chazz.      unless.      “are   you   -   are   you   jealous,   chazz?”   he’s      unable   to   resist   a   small   laugh   escaping.      that   would   make   sense.      he   had   theorised   that   the   chazz   -   may   perish   if   ignored   for   a   long   enough   time.      and   he   had.   been   ignoring   his   friend   hadn't   he   ?   oh   man.   not  cool.  

                                    jealous.       jealous.      he’d   merely   huffed   and   rolled   his   eyes   at   the   words   spoken   prior   to   the   accusation   ,   arms   resting   behind   his   head   and   glare   directed   at   the   ceiling   as   he   made   feeble   attempts   to   ignore   jadan.    couldn’t   he   take   the   hint   ?      did   he   have   to   string   barbwire   around   the   top   bunk   to   get   his   point   across   ?         this   conversation   was   over   !       done   !      he   didn’t   have   to   explain   his   reasoning   ,   though   no   doubt   jaden   would   continue   playing   defence   attorney   for   jesse   anyway   ,   cause   that’s   just   what   he   wanted   to   talk   about   ,    jesse.    right.    

                                    ❝   I   am   not   jealous   !!   ❞    the   outburst   is   almost   comedic   ,   cheeks   flaring   to   highlight   his   built   up   frustration   as   he   shoots   up   from   the   bed   ,   almost   hitting   his   head   in   the   progress   ,    taking   deep   ,   unnerved   ,   breaths   as   he   tries   and   fails   at   reeling   his   emotions   back   in.    oh   ,   but   it   was   so   easy   for   jaden   to   get   a   rise   out   of   him   ,   it   never   took   much   ,   but   this   time   it   leaves   a   bitter   taste   in   his   mouth.      jealousy.    please   ,   like   he’d   waste   his   time   being   envious   of   that   southern   dweeb.

                                    ❝   why   should   i   care   what   you   get   up   to   in   your   spare   time   ?    it   doesn’t   change   anything   ,    i’m   still   going   to   beat   you   either   way   ,    no   matter   who   you   decide   to   be   all   mushy   over.    we’re   rivals   and   don’t   you   forget   it.    i’m   not   pathetic   like   syrus   ,    i   won’t   chase   after   you.   ❞    his   snarky   response   hits   a   nerve   within   himself.      chase   him.    no   ,   he   wouldn’t   stoop   so   low   ,   but   the   residing   fear   of   being   replaced   ,   of   jaden   following   a   new   path   without   him   ,   that   struck   at   the   anxiety   he   refused   to   acknowledge.  

well   -   at   least   he’d   stopped   ignoring   him.      and   angry   chazz   -   was   better   than   a   chazz   that   wouldn’t   look   at   him   !   plus   -   for   a   guy   who   claimed   to   not   care.   he   sure   seemed   to   care   enough   for  such  an   outburst.  classic   chazz. 

“well   i   guess   i   could.”      jaden   shrugged.   but   he   had   wanted   to   hang   with   chazz   today   -   he   felt   like   he   hadn’t   seen   a   lot   of   him,   lately.   even..   if   they   were   sharing   a   dorm   again   -   wait.   had   he   even   been   there.   he   didn’t   think   the   chazz   was   capable   of   being   that   quiet…   and      plus   -   as   cute   as   ruby   was.   he   did   miss   ojama   yellow   -   he   always   had   something   to   say.      he   might   even   be   better   at   riling   up   chazz   than   him   -   maybe   they   could   compare   notes.   

   “      but   -      jess   has   other   friends,   you   know?      he’s   chillin’   with   jim   today   i   think.   so   -   if   you   really  don’t   care,   think   i’ll   just   hang   here   today,   bro.”      

                                      ❝    fine   ,   do   whatever   you   want   ,   you   always   do   anyway.    just   don’t   expect   me   to   humour   you   ,   the   chazz   has   better   things   to   do.    ❞    if   his   own   place   wasn’t   currently   being   occupied   by   blair   ,   he’d   of   just   left   the   dorm   already   ,   but   no   ,   because   he   wasn’t   allowed   to   argue   with   a   thirteen   year   old   about   the   fact   she   stole   his   place   ,   so   he   had   to   room   with   jaden   again.   now   he   understood   why   syrus   stayed   at   ra   more   then   he   did   his   own   room   ,   he   was   sick   of   hearing   these   two   dweebs   go   on   about   their   cards   all   night.   it   made   him   want   to   puke   over   how   happy   they   acted   ,   like   it   was   normal   to   be   that   enthused   at   2  am   ,   please   ,   what   a   farce.
