Forrest: by the way, when is your birthday?
Forrest: when is your birthday?
Marie: no, I heard what you said. Why does that matter?
Forrest: because I want to know.
Forrest:ā¦. Why do you think? So I can know when to get you a gift.
Marie: oh, no, you donāt have to do any of that.
Forrest: well, I want to. So when is it?
Marie: it doesnāt matter.
Forrest: ā¦.how long has it been since you celebrated your birthday?
Marie: since before my son was born.
Forrest: okay but heās eighteen.
Forrest: so itās been eighteen years since youāve celebrated your birthday???
Marie: whatās the big deal?
Forrest: well, everyone likes to feel special every once in a while, donāt they? Plus, with what you have gone through, making it another full year on earth is a genuine achievement. Youāve beaten the odds.
Marie: If youāre asking me if I want a party, the answer is no.
Forrest: it doesnāt have to be a party.
Marie: Iām still not telling you.
Forrest: fine, Iāll just ask your sister. And then sheāll want to throw a party since I brought it up.
Marie: okay, Jesus, fine!
