Weapons being about domestic violence and growing up in an abusive household and literally no one paying attention to the Very Obviously traumatized child who’s behaving strangely and becoming emotionally distant and forced into parentification, and the only one who notices something wrong being his school teacher but all her concerns get waved away because no one wants to break the illusion of the perfect nuclear family.
The ostracized-from-society homeless, drug addicted man being the one to quite literally break (into) this illusion and see the horror behind it, but when he reports it in, no one taking him seriously and finding his words meaningless. Even the one cop who listened to him preferred to return to the status quo and treated the family & home as worthy of much more respect than the homeless man he just assaulted and terrorized.
But even with his report, he didn’t make it out of genuine sympathy for the victims. He made it purely for capitalistic reasons. Ostracized from society, but still eager to support the wrongs of it. And so it’s the teacher and the parent, who the community views as bizarre and invasive for “caring too much” that are the ones to, in the end, offer genuine true support for the victims of abuse. Weapons being about how children are always the most vulnerable when it comes to the dangers of nuclear family isolation. Weapons being about how important and life saving it can be to literally just care.
Okay I really loved Weapons’ fairy tale vibe
Fuck around and find out
