I canât believe this exists. That this is in my hands, that the words in that sharp serif are mine, that @kaasknot took the time to arrange them and make this book (a real book!) around them. You canât even see the red-and-white striped thread binding in these photos, canât run your fingers over the smooth marbled cover, canât smell that smell, the paper smell, and shiver all over in awareness that after decades of haunting libraries and bookstores, this bit of paper is yours.
There are so many small details I adore---the mythopoeic sans serif of the titles, the thread of rust-red through the marbled cover, the fact that breaks in passages are indicated by musical notation for a full rest. However, my particular favorite is the small, subtle ouroboros on the spine. It looks like a printerâs mark and even though kaasknot sent me photos of the finished product beforehand, it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize what I was looking at. A callback to the whiskey label that started it all---foreign, faded squiggles...a snake biting its tail...
I love it in particular, keep running my thumb over it and grinning.
Thank you, thank you, a million times over, to @kaasknot for this. I am overawed, I am undone. I keep reaching for it, just to make sure that yes, yes, itâs still there. It exists, and itâs beautiful.
Whipstitch | kaasknot | (27/27) - 68.2k | June-July 2012
It dawned fair and clear, the day they sewed Loki's lips shut.
Note: (In honour of the impending release of the Loki miniseries and my sceptical optimism for it, I'm highlighting a few canon-adjacent Loki works that can pass the time between new episodes or, if you're like me, distract from new content long enough to miss the first wave of inevitable Discourse.) Whipstitch investigates a different avenue of consequences for Loki's failed invasion, both from Asgard and from Thanos. Most countries had Avengers playing in theatres by the first week of May 2012. Kaasknot had the sixty-eight thousand words of Whipstitch published before the end of July. To build a world accurate to Norse culture and mythology is an accomplishment in istelf; to integrate the Marvel infrastructure into an original storyline, in less than four months, is remarkable.

It dawned fair and clear, the day they sewed Lokiâs lips shut. Curiosity and ill-will made it into a spectacle: a prince of Odin, a traitor and genocidal megalomaniac, humbled before HlidskjĂĄlf. It was the event not to be missed.
So it was the throne room was full to bursting as the Ăing met to declare the princeâs fate. The crowd of onlookers overflowed the aisles, pouring out between the columns into the plaza beyondâa veritable sea of greedy eyes eager for a show. The prince came quietly enough, by all reports, and it was true: there was no mewling or cowering. He strode to meet his father with his head held high and no sign of fear upon his face.
Had he been better-liked this might have endeared him to his people. Had he the boisterous, effulgent disposition of his brotherâbut Loki had been distant before his crimes and subsequent disappearance, and now he was as untouchable as RagnarĂśk, and just as sinister. The look of the wild man hung about him, in the untamed length of his hair, in the wear showed upon his armor, in the fey gleam in his eye.
The people stared at him, then looked to Thor, Asgardâs Golden Son, and it was as looking from night to day.

"a new beginning" for the wip game?
A New Beginning started because of one of the prompts I received a while back. It's a wingfic AU where the clones have feathered wings of varying colors. In addition to all their training on Kamino, they develop a culture respecting usefulness. There are several points throughout the fic where, because of the state of his own wings, Dogma doubts Fox's intentions toward him.
There's also an undercurrent of distaste among most of the clones toward vode who have darker wings, because they can blend into the shadows easier and thus "you never know where they might be hiding". Dogma's wings are both midnight-black and usless from having been shattered repeatedly months before the fic takes place.
Fox's lack of negative interest in Dogma has a lot to do with the fact that as a member of the Corruscant Guard, he's usually surrounded by more natborns than the clones from the other units, and natborns tend to have prejudices toward all the clones as a group rather than toward specific clones due to their variations. This results in most of the Guard being less interested in the color and state of someone's wings and more interested in taking care of each other.
It's a pretty short WIP, I'm still working on the third (and last) chapter. Feel free to shoot me more asks about this or my other works if you're curious!

@kaasknot replied to your post âhow does carver weather the end of the war?â
LiSTE n... it is /okay/ not to brutally murder your OCs. IT IS OKAY!! i'm very glad carver and kelly (my phone wants very badly for that to be "jelly") make it out alive with BloodshedTM (yisss) and then get to live quietly afterwards
okay okay MURDER is a strong word........ but YEAh youâre right especially bc you know how arik x kharro is about like loving each other through cycles of unintentional and unavoidable harm... carver x kelly is literally the opposite of that. like it sounds sappy as SHIT but with them itâs about the harm that was done to you being held and repaired by the person who you love. so really of course they have to live happily ever after
@kaasknot replied to your post:â@aint-summer-here replied to your post: âI wonder...â:
Clone height discussions always crack me tf up, bc Tem Morrison is 5'7" so they'd t o w e r over Jango, like I guess the Kaminoans decided they needed to be taller?? Even tho short ppl make better pilots, e.g., and require fewer calories. Poor small Jango, is what I'm saying, and the Nulls just make it worse :P
lmao SAME
I just love the image of like ... a shorter Jango Fett walking around completely straight-faced while his 100 Alphas tower over him by at least 5-6 inches, the Nulls at 6 or 7.
I think somewhere in Legends they mentioned that possibly due to his hard upbringing his growth was stunted? and then compare to the controlled environment and nutrition plans on Kamino Jango gets to see ... how tall he mightâve been had he grown in a more stable environment.
which now that Iâve said that is kind of sad. why did i do this.
alternatively, I wonder how many of the clones wanted to call Jango âsmallâ and refrained from fear. The smaller, harder, sharper progenitor. Â heâs closer to the ground, lower center of gravity. is this too much.
kaasknot replied to your post: If you ask me to explain something about Star Wars...
Didâdid that actually happen to you??
YES IT DID. I was fucking livid and didn't talk to them for almost a month.
Edit: in retrospect, that sounds really petty of me, but... I donât really care. Â They have a history of saying shit like that, and that was the last straw.
