Hi so I realize that in documenting Joe 5's life and demeanor, that means I probably could try and go into his counterpart, Joe 1 (haha, ha, 1!!!).
I will warn y'all right now, this is a very unusual Joe depiction. The post is also long. If you're fine with both of that, let's go!
Joe 1 (who will not be referred to as 1, that would be FAR too confusing. Let's call him Joey!) looks more like a standard Joe, and is multi-faceted. The most obvious part is how he can act like a cartoon character, usually like in a YTP. But nothing he does is malicious by nature; in fact, it's impossible to cause legitimate harm to anyone/anything via the jokes.
By "jokes", I mean that he can perform actions that shouldn't make sense. Like spawn/use props, mess about with his animation frames, cause damage/changes that literally is undone within moments, and speak and sing in "word-splicing".
Examples:
Spawn a GIF of a spinning 3D cow and say "Check this out! I could stare at it all day..."
-- Sprint into a room and cause a low-quality GIF of an explosion the size of his height to appear (WITH sound), which does nothing to the surroundings
-- Computer images/symbols. An error message if he doesn't understand, a buffering GIF if he's processing information, a BSOD if something blows his mind, etc
-- Summon a greenscreen
-- Show a visualization of his model file and pan around as he sees fit
Crash a car into someone's lawn whilst rolling over 18 times, and then the damage is non-existent as soon as the joke ends
Warp his model in humorous ways, like giant eyes, head shrinking, stretching an arm to reach for something, become a marketable plushie (he squeaks), and so on
-- Chug a bottle of alcohol at the rate of Plus Baldis eating an apple and feel nothing (he only gets drunk if he wants to)
-- Ragdoll and fling himself at things
-- T-pose and speen
Be a living soundboard
And then? His ensemble can do this too. All of them. It's a shared trait among(st) his copy.
He also does stand up comedy, but obviously his routines are mainly visual. Wacky shit.
But like I said, that's just one facet.
When situations are more serious, he knows to shut it off. And sometimes he does it just to chill for a while. Can't be a hyperactive goober 24/7. What's he like then? Still a pretty cheerful guy, but he will take others to heart and speak earnestly, politely if he can.
He's well aware of Joe 5, and understands that things between them are pretty damn bad. It's hard to put things under the bridge when Joey basically stole his friends in a way. And so, he's patient with him, amidst his endless vitriol. And he cares about him a lot, as a fellow Joe.
Another thing worth mentioning is: So why is Joey seemingly fine with being a joke? Because, he believes, every single one of them are. They all stemmed from Baldi, who is a parody horror (even Viktor. Oh, especially Viktor). By lineage and/or coincidence, every BBAU is, by definition, a joke.
And since that's the case, jokes ought to stick together, and bring joy to each other whenever they can. At the end of the day, they are just silly little games, cast off to the World Wide Web. If they miss the point, that's unfortunate, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Indeed, Joey is very strange in appearing to be more well-adjusted than what may be expected - very left-field, if not out-of-character completely. The truth is, his situation is rare. The sequential Joes who came to the Webspace after him each bore varying degrees of personal troubles. One of them was even really good at masking it from their player and entourage.
Synchronizing with them was more challenging than other game types. There would be periods after the fact where the new additional Joe would still exist alongside Joey. Try to influence him. Try to keep closed off to him. Not truly, completely fusing and thinking as one.
And with each merge, it took various methods to help them settle in. Talking through their issues. Finding out what they're afraid of him knowing about. And for the most unruly one, threaten to have him "kicked out", although Joey wasn't sure if that was possible, but he'd sure as Hell try to figure it out!
He's seen their pain. Their anxieties. Their shame. Their rage. Promising to never tell anyone unless it's fine to, promising that it'll be okay, promising that he won't judge them, promising to not hold it against them. And when they let go, he grows a little more aware, a little more humble, a little more understanding.
And a little more motivated to make other people's day just a bit brighter. Why, if Joey could make 5 smile, or even laugh (genuinely, not mockingly)... Well, that would be amazing.
Also yeah he's also a rodent whisperer just like 5. Yes this is just a thing with WTTW Joes now, like a semi-common trait

I was at this show, just a little toasted. I've completely forgotten opening band Shudder to Think, have "Merchandise" indelibly etched into my memory, and wonder just which Dischord band was played in between sets
