A lot of the mcyt community, especially on Twitter (big surprise there) is pretty ableist. Tone indicators are frequently used in places they are just not needed (”how you can help spread awareness about ___ /srs” is very CLEARLY serious and to assume someone couldn’t tell that is incredibly infantilizing) or the common narrative that people who hyperfixate on media can’t criticise that media or even stop the hyperfixation from happening. I constantly see posts like “*insert creator* should not be supported! (if you hyperfixate on them this is not for you)” It’s just ableist and infantilizing. Tools that were put in place to help neurodivergent people out are frequently used in ways that paints them as stupid and infantile, and hyperfixations are used as an escape from critique.
