Absolutely loved this. The video kinda glitches out towards the end but the audio is fine. Just wanted to make a note of the last question about any regrets: James says he wishes he’d been a couple of inches taller so he could carry the weight a bit better😢 but also dying his hair blonde! I don’t mind the blonde, but I kind of know what he means.
Also towards the end, the moment Nicky (inevitably) swears on a live broadcast - and the way James grabs his hand, makes me feel some kinda way🥴🫠

"We have fights and call each other all the names under the sun, but it doesn't mean anything. At the end of the day, we'd all die for each other."
Noel Gallagher, Radio One, Tuesday August 20
"By the reaction in Rosemont, it would seem most fans don't give a damn about Liam. He should be careful. No-one is indispensable."
Spokeswoman, Palace venue, Michigan, USA, Tuesday August 27
There is a saying that a week is a long time in politics — but it can be even longer in pop music.
On August 20, Noel Gallagher, triumphant after Knebworth and on the eve of their Conquer-American tour, presented Radio One's Evening Session. He talked about the band's phenomenal success and about how close they all are.
Seven days later, he was taking the stage in Rosemont, USA, as lead vocalist/guitarist at the beginning of Oasis' most important tour to date. Liam was back in the UK — either "looking for a house", "suffering from tonsillitis", "having therapy", "leaving the band" or "being bossed around by Patsy", depending on which paper you read.
But here's the real story — the truth about what really happened that week...
TUESDAY AUGUST 20
Noel stands in for Steve Lamacq and joins Jo Whiley on Radio One, giving his frank and humorous views on the state of Oasis.
Q: Who's your favourite member of Oasis?
Noel: Er ... Liam.
Q: What's your relationship with him like?
Noel: Pretty good, actually.
Q: When did it change? You're getting on well at the moment...
Noel: When we moved to London, really ... I suppose we lean on each other because we've become so big and he gets a lot of hassle from the press. Lately, it's been really out of order. There are some things that have happened between him and Patsy that I wouldn't even go through ... It certainly ain't good for him or her. I feel sorry for him sometimes.
Q: Do you ever actually hit Liam?
Noel: Oh yeah, absolutely. The last time was when we were recording Morning Glory.
Q: Can you see a time when it's going to get boring for you?
Noel: To be in a band with Bonehead and Liam Gallagher, let me tell you, is not boring.
Q: What's the next single going to be, then?
Noel: Either My Big Mouth or It's Getting Better, Man. We won't know until we record, but it's gonna be mega.
Q: Of course, and when might we see that?
Noel: On whatever day Blur's next single comes out.
Q: Are you still friendly with Blur, then?
Noel: No, I hate them. ****heads!
FRIDAY AUGUST 23
An Oasis competition is announced in the media for 400 lucky winners to see Oasis perform an MTV Unplugged session at London's Royal Festival Hall. Newspaper and radio hotlines are jammed, but sadly things are not quite 'alright on the night' and, after much coughing and croaking in rehearsals, Liam is forced to quit the gig, due to a ropey throat. Noel heroically takes over and Liam and Patsy snuggle up in the posh Royal Box to watch the performance. [Tumblr editor's note in 2026: NOT TRUE Patsy was elsewhere doing promotion for her own work at the time. She was not at this gig.]
SATURDAY AUGUST 24/SUNDAY AUGUST 25
Splashed all over the papers are claims that fans attending the bash weren't v. chuffed at Liam's non-performance. One declares the gig "a big flop" and reckon MTV are "very disappointed" and may not screen the concert. Indeed, an MTV spokeslady told Smash Hits, "It's still undecided when it will be shown." Hmmmm. A "voice expert" warns that Liam's warble may vanish altogether in five years time if he doesn't practise a proper "vocal technique". Gulp! Another tale emerges that the Gallaghers' Pa has been put in the 'slammer' for a month for driving while banned. Oh dear — it's true!
MONDAY AUGUST 26
Things go quiet as the band prepare for their humongous American tour. But then...
Former Noel’s House Party host Edmonds, 74, previously advertised it for £4million in 2018, before moving to New Zealand.
The three-floor pad in Grasse — the world’s perfume capital — has multiple engravings of his first name, which he shared with Liam’s brother and ex-bandmate.
Despite this, Liam cannot wait to spend time there with fiance Debbie Gwyther, 39, who speaks French.
A source said: “Liam’s been telling mates, ‘I’ve bought Mr Blobby’s house.’ Him and Debbie plan to put their own stamp on it. They think all the carvings of Noel’s name are quite funny and ironic.”
Have you done the interior- the design... of the place in France?
No, it was already done man... It used to be Noel Edmonds' and that, which was, which was cool and that and like, uh, he made a, he made a lovely job of it and uh. So I won't, I won't be doing anything. I won't be touching it, it's all, it's all good.

John, talking about his "sexual awakening" song: "It's by no means a sexy song, and it's quite uncool, but, uh, the one that reminds me of sexual awakenings is, I was at school and I was in love with this girl called Melissa, and she was a year above or below me, I can't remember. She was going out with this really hard geezer, who was the cock of the school and no one should mess with him, but we all went on a school trip to France, and... it was "Take On Me" by a-ha. I remember it so clearly, and it just reminds me of that trip to France, and we had a little... yeah, we sort of got into bed together with all our clothes on and it was incredible."
A 2018 Liam interview with Jo Whiley. I love that she is amongst the few interviewers Liam seems to genuinely take seriously, respect and doesn’t play the fool with. The BBC Radio 2 interview where the interviewer called Liam‘s bluff by threatening the phone Noel right now because she had his number was this right here Jo Whiley.
