Batman is clashing with the Justice Lords version of himself. And while they are fighting they are arguing.
Our Batman is pointing out how they are being tyrants and seized power.
Then Justice Lord! Batman goes in with.
“And with that power, we made a world where an 8 year old boy will NEVER lose his parents because of some punk with a gun.”
And Batman stops, because he hit him RIGHT IN THE TRAUMA, and he had zero come backs.
Now we learn later that Batman was waiting for a chance to show Justice Lord Batman how f***ed his world was, but I think both Batman knew Justice Lord Batman won with that line. And it strike the core of Batman as a character.
All that he does was to make Gotham, a place where no kid will lose his parents like he did. That’s the goal. That’s the dream.
And even Batman understood how tempting the idea of a world like that is.
