KidLawgust 2026: Day 5 - Red

Tried another style again. I had fun with the monochrome palette. And the blood. xD

Codename: Hex (Based on Jinx)

Eri doesn't remember when she unlocked her bad luck powers, they just sort of happened when she was a kid. Unlike her twin brother Ryuji who's more about general dark magic, she specializes in hexing people with luck magic.

As a kid, she mostly used her magic for simple mischief, messing with people who got parts she wanted, or kids who annoyed her. She was content to merely help out her brother in being bad. It wasn't until she got rejected from her dream theatre school due to her appearance that she went full on baddie.

Hex uses her magic to spread misfortune and bad luck to people, often being used by the Fiendish Five to mess up security when they rob places.

While it's fun to be part of a group, Eri's been feeling unsure if she wants to be bad all the time. Developing friendships with Umbra (Anthony) and Speedster (Simon) has made her think about at least becoming an anti-hero.

Her and Ryuji have a friendly sibling rivalry, often challenging eachother to see who can cause the most chaos. She's a great petsitter to his cat.

She's been getting back into acting, and has considered retiring from the super business all together when she's older to try and head to theatre once again.

Bruce complains to one of his friends (Selena, Harley, Oliver, Clark, or whoever) about Jason and him getting into screaming matches and physical fights nearly every time they meet. The friend proposes:

"Jason likes books, yeah? If you're constantly arguing, find topics you *can* talk about."

This is an excellent idea. Unfortunately, Bruce wants to maximize the efficiency. Since Jason and him can't see eye to eye, why don't they reference books in their arguments? Maybe this would help them understand each other a little better - having reference material.

Starting a political/criminal system/justice book club starts about how anyone else can predict this going: more screaming matches and fist fights.

So, Jason complains to an english professor or college student about how the book club isn't working. It might even be making their relationship worse.

The other person suggests writing essays. If they can't talk to each other without interrupting and getting angry, they need to write it down. In order to ensure they aren't just sending insulting words back and forth, there needs to be guidelines.

Hence, Bruce and Jason start writing essays on the books they are reading.
