(The Asemblers of Angor, in a picture provided by one assumes the news media of their home planet) The Assemblers are a team of superheroes from the planet Angor, literally in the opposite extreme of the Milky Way galaxy's furthest arm from us. Angor is a planet that boggles the mind to think about because of just how similar it is to us. The planet, by every description is a warm, wet, continental world ruled in largest part by a species of bipedal humanoids with a long and proud history of superhuman champions rising to its defense. To fight the battles no one of them could fight alone, their greatest heroes came together as the Assemblers and became the pinnacle of their world's ideals of heroism. The Assemblers, like any superhero team have a deep and diverse roster that speaks to their equally long and important history but only five of those heroes have ever spent any amount of time on earth. Left to right: The thunder god Wandjina, the amazing archer Bowman, the lightning fast Jack B Quick, the arcane and enigmatic Silver Sorceress, and the high flying Blue Jay. We know of a few other members via snippets caught on record from the group that go by the names Tin Man, Angorcommando and Barracuda. Keep in mind all nom de guerres that refer to things like specific earth animals or mythology are transliterations for the sake of human listeners. The Assemblers don't speak English as their native language no matter how much they look like us.

What they REALLY look like though, is Marvel's Avengers. Originally a prominent comic book hero team and now one of the most profitable franchises on the planet...*shrug* space is really, REALLY big. When we talk about the multiverse and the omniverse so often it can feel like our cosmic "neighborhood" is smaller in comparison but make no mistake our observable reality is ALSO near infinite in scope and the more of it we observe the more weird coincidences we're liable to find. They really resemble the Avengers, for all we know the Justice League ALSO looks like a popular pop culture staple on Angor, the numbers make fools of us all.

Its Birb time! There sure are a lot of bird named heroes in the DC universe, tho I guess we should blame Robin for starting the trend in 1940 lol. Half of these are non-canon, obviously, tho a couple do share names with canon heroes (like the Jays, and the Starlings down there). There's only so many bird names you can use tbh.

I like to imagine this to be a kinda 'club' for bird themed heroes, maybe Robin started it with his siblings as a joke (bats not allowed! thats means you bruce lol). Looks like it expanded, and now Dove is currently president to Nightwing's confusion. I liked Dawn, tho she got 'killed' off way to early before she could make her stride (she got brought back, in a really weird way).

I had a lot of fun drawing this, everyone's got something funny going on, my favorite is with poor Blue Jay there. Kinda wished to add in more heroes, like Hawkman/woman but it would've gotten too cluttered. Look at the Canary's at the bottom, Dinah's so happy she got a sidekick (Red Canary aka Sienna ?) of her own. Here's a couple of extra doodles of her:

Red Canary is fun to draw, esp the hair! Love drawing long hair. Also here's a bonus Speedy II, aka Mia Dearden. This doodle is part of a larger set of more doodles featuring Mia but I can't show it for now.

The increasingly horrible writing of DC comic books has desensitised me so much that the fact that Heroes in Crisis is as disappointing as I expected didn’t surprise me the least. What it did, though, was just make me weary.

When I first heard about the “focus” of Heroes in Crisis, I thought (perhaps foolishly), “This has potential. This could be good.” I wanted to give it a try. I really did. It’s not often that the trauma of heroes and their mental health in general are discussed, which is curious in and of itself considering what these characters do on a daily basis and how it inevitably affects them. So Heroes in Crisis could have been a great run. It could have been about these heroes talking about their problems, their trauma, the lives they lead and the tragedies that happen. It could have been about recovery, however slow the process may be.
