Cameron's pretty uninvolved in things and tries to keep to himself out of trouble. He's currently just wandering places, Jay's on the run and invisible, it'd be super cool if they met as they are right now and formed a friendship that's based on just, trying to survive in a country that is violent towards them for existing.
I think they'd get along pretty quickly but neither of them call each other friends until someone else points it out. Upon which they just look at each other, nod, and move on.
Jay gets silly-stupid around Cameron and is far more reckless. Jay's had to be the mature on in his canon relationships so far, so when he hangs around someone older than him like Cameron, that immature side of him finally comes out. He keeps teasing Cameron, pulls pranks, and is generally a gremlin.
They are gods of bargaining. They are not paying the stated price for a single thing anywhere.
Cameron's one of the few people who wouldn't condemn Jay for his rage, and Jay is so shocked about it that he almost cries. Jay is horrified by what he did in killing the soldiers, even if he finds it logical in his head. When Cameron finds out he just goes "okay, I understand" and Jay feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulder. The wildest part is Cameron does fully understand, he's not just saying it.
Jay drags Cameron around to try new things like new food, drinks, locations, books, movies etc. Cameron's always been on survival mode, Jay had tried to find reasons to keep going and part of that includes living life instead of just surviving it.
On the surface it seems like Cameron's the more dangerous one on account of his powers being summoning the avatars of cities(which often take the shape of giant rampaging monsters), but Jay gains a colder edge to him after S6 and is a lot more willing to be intentionally brutal.
These two travel a LOT. They are backpacking across the country and travelling to other countries as well. This is because Jay's on the run, and Cameron thinks he doesn't have a home. So they just, pack all their stuff in duffels and wander.
These two are the most blunt, sarcastic assholes ever so when they communicate, they don't need to exchange much words to get to the meat of the conversation. It initially results in a lot of conflict but as time passes this mellows things out. Neither of them are really thinking of one another as romantic prospects or allies. There's no one to impress so they bring the messy, human versions of themselves to one another which accidentally accelerates their closeness.
On that note, they're honest about their current emotions but COMPLETELY guarded about their past. Jay asks Cameron about his family? He says the basic stuff but he will never talk about how it affects him emotionally. Jay tells Cameron about his mom, Jon, Nia, Gamorra? He's not even really talking about how it affects him but about how it impacted Gamorra and the general political climate. And neither of them dig. They just wait for the other person to come forward with it whenever they want. They are turtles sitting side by side at the shore of a pond, poking their heads out to look at each other sometimes(while holding hands. fins?)
Cameron haaaaaaaaates physical contact, Jay is a touchy-huggy guy. When they meet(which to me is always after S6), Jay's also guarded about touch, but over 2-4 years they slowly acclimate and Cameron's allowing for hugs(rarely still). Jay knows it takes a lot out of him so he treasures whatever contact he gets. Cameron's sucking it up and trying to be better about it.
These two are the slowest slow burn of all time. They trust and rely on each other but they don't admit to a damn thing until years later. Cameron's approach to forming positive connections and feelings is "I'm going to keep it all in here and one day, I'll die." Jay's more open, but he also doesn't want to push Cameron, he's assured Cameron cares a lot about him. So these two basically go "comes in pairs: do not separate" for years before putting a label on it (friends, queerplatonic, romantic, whichever)
The Revolutionaries love Cameron. He doesn't even need to do anything, they approve of the friendship. After Jay's former friendship and relationship, they all heave a collective sigh when Jay's new friend is just as against the system as them and is also not white. He immediately gains their trust when he says "I don't like the Justice League."
In a romantic context, Cameron's the most jealous man Jay has known(which is saying something when Jay's ex is Jon). He doesn't even pretend to be nice if Jon's around. Jay tells him stop and thinks he's being a giant asshole, it's weird to be that jealous over an ex, becomes a whole argument. But eventually Cameron grows out of the jealousy and just hates Jon because of the liberalism. Jay doesn't interfere with the Cameron-Jon arguments after that lol.
That's all I've got for now! I'm actually trying to figure out how these two would interact in a normal situation without high pressure. They're both so chill in their regular day life and way too similar. I can't velieve I got a Jay and Cameron ask btw, this is amazing!!!! Thank you so much!!!
