"Do you have a preference for what style you want it braided in?" He asks as he picks up the comb and the hair ties.

"Anything is fine, darling." Damien replies and Jon can hear the smile in his voice.

He runs the comb through his hair carefully - but there are no knots or kinks in those soft strands and so he goes right to separating them into sections. Years of caring for Mili's hair has taught Jon a lot about how to do hair styles and tie them up correctly.

He knows that Damien is perfectly capable of braiding it himself but it's not about helping him look pretty as much as Jon wanting an excuse to stroke and pet and kiss his hair as much as he desires.

He works in focused silence for a few minutes, getting lost in the mindless yet hypnotic rhythm of crossing sections over each other, repeating it again and again until Damien's hair is all tucked neatly together. Damien's hair is soft and silky, dazzling even in the artificial lighting of the Office.

Jonathan takes another moment to admire him like this, sitting in front of him with his hair braided, expression happy and trusting.

How did I get so lucky? Jonathan wonders, not for the first time since meeting Damien. When he thinks about all the chaos he endured that led him up to the moment of first meeting him in the hallways of his Office, he knows it was all worth it.
