1. Proxy work isn't always glamours

This isn't always fun and fluffy. You are working with entities that originate from horror and it is vital you keep this in mind. While I don't go around killing people, it isn't always just hanging around the mansion laughing with the other proxies. As the name implies, proxy work is work. You are expected to contribute in ways that might not benefit you personally.

2. These are entities, not characters

Out of all horror characters, Slenderverse ones are perhaps the most fandomized. While I don't mind this usually, it becomes a problem when you bring that mentality into the spiritual work. Not every proxy will like you, in fact, it's more likely they won't. Most of the other proxies are neutral towards me at best. There are a few that are outright hostile. And perhaps most importantly, Slenderman is not a softie. He is a horror entity that causes anxiety and will want something from you. Slenderman works similarly to the fae, he may tolerate you, he may even grant you privileges or abilities, but not without reason. Similar to the above point, he won't tolerate you sitting around doing nothing.

Additionally, entities are not required to work with you.

There is no guarantee you'll be accepted as a proxy. There's not even a guarantee that you'll even be acknowledged. And if you are it may not be a pleasant experience. Proxies and even Slenderman can be extremely hostile towards those they perceive as outsiders. You have to go into this with an understanding that these entities are not your friends. Not yet at least. Approach them like you would any other person.

3. Lacking experience makes this dangerous

Do you know how to banish a spirit? Your way around the woods? How to tell if a entity is who they say they are?

Both mundane and spiritual experience are very important to this practice. The latter especially people seem to be lacking. Many people will rush into practices like proxy work without much thought. They expect it to be easy but it isn't. As I stated above, proxy work is work. And it's work that you need some level of experience to do

Because of this, I don't think proxy work is entry level spirituality

You need to know baneful magic, how to work with entities that can be dangerous, even just the basics of entity work are very important that a lot of people lack. Learn some basics before starting out on your proxy journey, it'll help you in the long run

To sum up my point, proxy work is not easy. It isn't the silly fandom game some people may think it is. It's hard and it can be scary. Go into it with the expectation that you likely won't get anything out of it, and be pleasantly surprised when you do

I want to reiterate this isn't me saying don't do proxy work. This practice has improved me and my life and I love when people show interest in it. But I worry people are going to get themselves hurt or into situations they don't know how to escape.

I'm bodily 14 and a female, although I'm relatively apathetic towards my gender. I type rather formally to mimic my speech offline. I've been interested in creepypasta and the Slenderverse since I was 7, and I began to take it seriously at 8.

I'm usually called Ecstacy or Meraki by the proxies. I contracted with Slenderman at 8 shortly after my mom taught me how to communicate with entities. My astral mission partners are usually Nina/Sally/Ben (it alternates), but I work alone in the physical. I usually recruit others, hang up pages, and use baneful magic. I actually don't live near the woods, so that's not involved in my work.
