And it's finished! No idea what I'll use it for but it's pretty and I braided the ends to fully finish it off.

Acquired a new art form, because I'm prideful and my greed knows no bounds (◡‿◡✿)
(weavers of Tumblr, how does it look for a third ever attempt)
Two years ago I watched one video on tablet weaving, and the craft stayed inside my mind since, festering until I couldn't handle it anymore. I had to weave!!
My best friend VERY kindly made my simple loom design come to life, and well... you will now find me beneath my funky orange blanket weaving until my hands are red raw and my back screams in agony.
This is my second go at weaving, and I refuse to be convinced otherwise that weaving is in my blood because how is it going so well? What magic has imbued my fingers to create such consistent work? Whatever it is, I am proud of my new belt I'm making!
I used yarn and colours cotton 4 ply yarn in khaki and ecru, off-white cotton warp thread, and followed the four hole pine pattern on twistedthreads!
Latest project/experiment: A little purse made from woven bands that I stitched together.
Originally, this post was going to go way in depth about how this project is so different from the original design, and was going to make disclaimers about every little flaw that probably only I see.
But then I took a step back and thought about how fricking cool it is that I just *made fabric* and then *made it into an actual little thing*.
It’s my first time trying something like this, and I think my perfectionism was really getting to me, but I’m quite proud of my slightly-wonky pouch, even if it’s not exactly what I’d hoped it would be.
I don’t know what I’ll use it for, though…

After a few false starts, the band is well under way. I’m still not convinced I made a good decision using black instead of a dark chocolate for the border/triangles, but regardless the overall pattern is lovely.🥰

The latest band I'm working on for a friend. They intend to use it as a hat band for their renaissance costume. Colors picked to represent a peacock motif, though prior to adding the blue during warping it was giving big mint chocolate vibes (first pic).
Super easy pattern (basically only move tablets forward) and based on a historical pattern. Warp threads are pearl (8?) embroidery thread and the weft is size 10 crochet cotton.
Starting a new band!
Apologies for not posting in a while, I've needed some time to adjust to my new routine before I could even dream of setting up my loom again. But luckily, between classes and 3 jobs and everything else, I was able to get some weaving in. I'm so, so glad I've been able to keep up with it. Keeping a hobby keeps you sane, you know? Having something you enjoy doing that isn't doom-scrolling into the ether does wonders for you, even if it's only for a half an hour a day. We get so caught up in the need-to-do's and deadlines that cage us in our lives, but those hobbies are our enrichment! They're there to up morale, to keep us entertained and happy, to let us take a break from the stress that steals so much of our minds already. I promise you, the need-to-do's can wait half an hour, and then when you get back to them, you'll be all the better for it.
This one will be a WIP for a long while, yes, but already the journey of creating the pattern, setting up the loom, and starting to weave has done wonders for me. I encourage all of you to keep a WIP handy at all times as well! We all need our emotional support hobbies.
I've been working on making a little batch of tablet woven bookmarks, I think I can get one more full bookmark out of what's left of the warp and then enough to make a tiny one to keep as a swatch of this pattern.
