"Please be a dear boy and destroy this note." is a queer art piece I made for a textile art show that'll take place in July.
We often hear things like "queer is just a trend" or "there weren't as many queer people before", and you know what? Queer people have always been here. We've been here from the beginning of history.
So I took this quote from a transcript of a police raid in a queer space in 1934 (link, National Archive Catalogue reference: MEPO 3/758) and I referenced Wilde's green carnation.
And on top of that, I decided to use a traditional sardinian weaving technique (pibiones) to do the textile, AND I made a font based on the Olivetti lettera 32 font (the typewriter my mother used when she was young; I wanted a touch of personal/familiar history as well).
Because we have traditions. We have history. We've been oppressed, silenced, made invisible; but that doesn't mean we weren't here.
first loom weaving project is a self-drafted double cloth because nobody tried hard enough to stop me
my first double weave pickup project :DDD
I was really struggling with this technique at first but i finally got it and am now working on these inverted roosters!
unfortunately im obsessed with the technique now + planning one million billion new projects.. much to think about
I LIVE I SWEAR. Have this 90's soda cup inspired warp as a proof of life lol.

They're doneeeee
Here are the leg wraps in both sun and shade. They turned out so good!! They haven't been wet finished or had the stray bits from the stripes trimmed yet, my brother is going to do that once he's home. I'm still out here melting in the woods because we picked a bad week to go camping. Once he's got them finished for real and figured out how he wants to wear them, I'll be back with some pictures of them in use. Again, very happy with how they turned out, but this was a long ass project for me. Twenty six feet of weaving, even if it was only a few inches wide. It'll be awhile before I do that again lol
Finally back at the loom after a couple months off to strengthen my leg for treadling!
This pattern is the entire reason I invested in a tempo treadle system for my baby wolf. My brain doesnโt do well with keeping my place in long sequences and I constantly second guess myself if Iโm manually tracking.
Having a little computer buddy that beeps in annoyance every time I hit the wrong treadle is great for me
