I bought some yarn recently but I don't know exactly what I wanna do with it yet so I'm just looking at it like "wow! Infinite possibilities!"
thank you to the previous owner of my loom for this pretty blue you left in the box of accessories and i am very glad i didn't strip the bobbins because this next project i will be using the blue. i am trying an undulating twill and hopefully i will make it look like the sea with ripples.
only issue now is that i have to hope this is enough blue because i don't know what it is to buy more
weaving advice needed!
back in march i visited mabel & co, a lovely couple who weave, print make and do medium format photography together. they use a former harris tweed loom that they got from an abandoned crofters cottage on harris and lewis a few years back. but they also got some yarn as well that was with the loom, but they use undyed plyed yarns.
in tweeds, they use singles on the warp. i have been reading up about how this is possible and basically they use countermarch and counterbalance looms which causes less stress on the warp threads. i don't have one of these, instead i have a rising shed loom.
i was gifted those yarns they got alongside the loom from harris and lewis because i infodumped very hard and they wanted me to have them which is so kind.
is it possible to use singles on the warp despite my loom type because, they are beautiful!

Here are the leg wraps in both sun and shade. They turned out so good!! They haven't been wet finished or had the stray bits from the stripes trimmed yet, my brother is going to do that once he's home. I'm still out here melting in the woods because we picked a bad week to go camping. Once he's got them finished for real and figured out how he wants to wear them, I'll be back with some pictures of them in use. Again, very happy with how they turned out, but this was a long ass project for me. Twenty six feet of weaving, even if it was only a few inches wide. It'll be awhile before I do that again lol
Hoping someone here might be able to help me identify this old rigid heddle loom.
I'm looking online to no avail.
It's not a Beka as I have a Beka as my main loom and this is lacking the teeth on the beams that Beka is known for.
As far as I've seen, no company used the style of heddle block that this one uses.
