                    ❛ i wouldn’t if i were you. ❜  gideon let his head fall back against the stone wall of the castle. a cigarette hung loosely between his lips, and he brought his lighter up to it, watching as smoke began to trail from the end. not looking at his newest admirer whose footsteps he’d heard in the crunch of the snow, he let out a light chuckle, exhaling the smoke in a long, slow breath.  ❛ you were gonna ask me how i’m doing, huh? well, m’fucking dandy, so why don’t you move alone and spread some rumours about someone else. i need some me time. ❜  as if he hadn’t had enough of that these last four months.

nate had a hard time caring about back to school shopping at this point in his life  ---  he supposed if this were a normal year  ( when people weren’t disappearing like there was an invite-only game of hide and seek going on )  he might feel a tad sentimental about his tenure at hogwarts coming to a close. but he found it hard to muster up even a shadow of sentimentality with so much uncertainty clouding the world around him. his gaze briefly followed a family; a girl who looked almost too small to be a first year and her parents, laughing after her like they didn’t read the news. nate shook his head, brought a paper cup of now-cold coffee to his mouth. he half turned to the person nearest him and said, wry notes the only ones in his voice,  “ great day to nab everything on that hogwarts list, huh? “ 

       alecto sat herself primly in the first  vacant space she found and ducked to whisper in her neighbor’s ear.  “  don’t   look now. but in a minute slughorn will tear in, furious. should be a real show. “

                       ❛      i wouldn’t say your idea is hopeless     ,    ❜     she mused, playing absently with a lock of hair, eyebrows furrowed in thought     .     ❛     but we both know you’re absolutely fooling yourself if you think it’s anywhere near brilliance     .     ❜
