#impulse headcanon

does anyone else remember season seven? where impulse said "i think i'm human", then laughed it off as a joke? well that line lives in my brain rent free. he thinks hes human. but hes not sure.

and really, why would he be? he was summoned. he eats amethysts. he seems to be drawn towards totems, and he likes to sort items (literally invented the item sorter). what else fits that?

totems come from evokers. vexes are summonable. allays duplicate when given amethyst, and they also love to sort. impulse feels like something related to them.

vexes and allays are like. minecraft fae. impulse.... is a changeling.

hes human shaped, but not quite the same. he thinks hes human. he grew up with humans and never knew he was anything else. but there is something off about him, some traits that betray his true nature. back in season seven, he didnt know. he was starting to question it. i wonder if he knows by now.

- His vocabulary has slipped into yours which means using a lot of crashes and moded which leads to people getting confused.

- He is very hyperactive, it can be a task to keep him still.

- Lame flirting just to make you smile.

- Has the most fun date ideas ever.

- Loves outdoor dates but also loves a good ol’ movie marathon on the couch.

- You make sure to always buy some candy or food for him just because you know how happy it makes him.

- Can be cheesy but you love it.

- Starts talking about the future and immediately stops stating ‘spoilers.’

- Babysitting dates where you help him babysit his parents (Weird? Very. But that’s what happens when you return from the future).

- He can be sentimental and very sweet.

He’s honestly so excited to spend it with you.

This boy is speeding all over the place!

Even Barry tells him to calm and slow down. BARRY of all people.

You both spend it at the cave with the other members of the Team present and a few JL members.

He’s so hyper, it’s a little overwhelming even for you.

Having to tell him to calm down a few times.

Eventually he does, much to everyone’s surprise.

What kind of miracle worker are you?

You can get Bart Allen to calm down?

Can you stay like all the time?

As it gets closer and closer to midnight he likes to wrap his arms around you and talk about how he’s excited to spend the New Year with you. 

“I don’t know, I just can’t believe I have someone so amazing to spend the year with me and to celebrate the new year.”

He’s so grateful because New Years is never celebrated in his time.

He shouts the count down.

As soon as it hits midnight you kiss him.

He doesn’t know the tradition of a New Years kiss and you wanted to surprise him.

It worked. And he couldn’t be happier.
