Guess what? As the companion to my “Grenades vs Buildings” poster, I made another, this time to measure the Heavy’s DPS with each different minigun!

These damage values are for medium distance (no fall-off, no ramp-up) and an average of three bullets hitting the target. (Miniguns fire four bullets per shot.) As such, this covers most common engagements for the Heavy, especially against other Heavies.

Which minigun do you like best? Does this change your mind at all? Remember that it doesn’t cover all of their attributes - the Tomislav’s bunnyhop or the Natascha’s slowdown, for example.

((seconds - spin-up)/firing interval) * damage per bullet * bullets per shot

edit: fixed formula because I’m a doofus and transcribed it wrong

edit: Updated graphic to include minigun damage penalty before one second. This actually reduces the Tomislav’s output more than the others.

edit 14 April 2022: Revised graphic once again to correct minigun spin-up damage penalty, applying it correctly to the Brass Beast and Natascha.
