u people have got to get more normal ab people who don't make sense to u . I mean like people who ramble on and don't know how to have proper conversation . people who are completely incomprehensible . people who talk about delusions and hallucinations . people who can't understand social cues . people with speech impediments or no speech at all . people with vocal tics . not just because it's the decent thing to do but also bc this is most common in the most vulnerable marginalized people . youth , elders , mentally ill , disabled , addicts as well as more generally people with accents & non English speakers .

really want more people to talk to cognitively & intellectually disabled people directly! I CAN understand you. I WANT things explained to me and I WANT to be able to ask questions and communicate back. I WANT to be included. I WANT to know what is going on. but a lot of the time, people only talk to the family/aids/caregivers and never to the person with the disability themselves and its not fair. don't make assumptions! talk to me!!
when people w intellectual or cognitive or language disabilities ask โwhat does that meanโ please like. actually explain what it mean to us.

you able read it, understand it, n then make up own decision about it. we struggle with first thing, so we ask for help, but by respond that way you take away our chance do the next two things.

hate that as nonverbal & HrSN autistic people say i have no quality of life because i can't live their way (the only way they see valid)
and when i say "actually i quite want to be alive and also i need support to have my basic needs met and am not getting that. but when i am alive i get to have my toys and plushies and animal crossing and everything that makes me happy and i would like to live more for those things"
response is either "well you're lying because if you were really that autistic couldn't use internet."

or "those are no reasons to live. you need to be like these people (job, not need daily care, independent or mostly so, smart, speaking, don't injure self involuntarily, etc etc) to be worth keeping alive"
they get to say our lives would be better not existing. we don't get to be heard to say we want to be here, we just want the world to be better for us
If you tell your loved ones with brain damage that they're a different person now and that they're not your loved one anymore, even if hell didn't previously exist they actually made one just for you
I don't really see posts about ableism towards intellectually disabled people &
cognitively disabled/impaired people in fandom spaces so lets talk about it
I'm someone with a cognitive impairment. And it is SO difficult to be in a fandom.
There is people who tell Me I can't be a fan of something since I don't (can't) remember everything
and/or because I don't (can't) directly interact with the original media
Ignoring the fact that this idea makes it near impossible to be a casual fan, even if you're able-brained,
this is harmful because these are things I can't do BECAUSE of My cognitive impairment.
I have many things I love but I can't remember much about them because of My cognitive impairment affecting My memory
And I can't directly interact with a media (playing a game, watching a show, so on)
because it gets too confusing for Me or I can't focus on it no matter how much I try
Heck, I can't even remember things about My own hyperfixation that I have had for over a year.
I forget character names or I have to ask about facts multiple times since I just am unable to remember
So. can we please stop with gatekeeping of fandom to intellectually & cognitively disabled/impaired people. Thanks
