y’all i accidentally hurt my own feelings. i was looking for some resources about polyamory and a few like “poly critical” subreddits came up and… i didn’t know people spend so much time thinking so vitriolically about us? like there’s hundreds of pages of people describing us as like perverts and pedophiles. like these disease-ridden loveless beings who consume an infinite amount of attention and affection and are incapable of attachment or care. and they have it so stuck in their head that monogamous people are somehow oppressed by poly folks existing. like, people are swiping through dating apps finding a lot of folks are poly and are like “wow this means my lifestyle is oppressed and endangered.” bitch! do you know that the entire colonized world is quite literally built for a nuclear family structure? like the institution of marriage alone goes a long way to upholding monogamy as a social norm but have you ever considered what a poly person might experience if they wanted a +2 at a wedding or work event? like what?
