I want to ship Aang with several people because he's my favorite and I want him to receive a lot of love.

Zukaang: OTP. Get together as adults. Working on a bigass fic about their friendship and how it turns into the most carnal yaoi romance of asll time, and they're it and they're my primary source of inspo for atla fanart. made a lot of amazing friends through the ship too.

Azutara: I like the other Katara WLW ships ALOT and its hard to pick between them, but I think Azula would become her best self with Katara. They could be really amazing enemies to lovers I think and both have raging crushes on each other.

Mailee: They're most definitely the sweetest paring for the two. I like shipping Tyzula, but I think Mailee provides the least toxicity and they have a lot of sweet moments together.

Sukka: I like them a lot. I also REALLY love Yuekka, but because Yue is dead </3 Sokka can be with Suki in life and then with Yue (or both in the spirit world.) I think they're a really healthy depiction of an egalitarian straight couple, which I'm all about, and Suki brings out the best in Sokka.

I don't really have a partner in mind for Toph, aside from Smellerbee maybe or Lin Beifong's dad from the comics. I can see her going through life without a formal romantic relationship and being happy too, being fulfilled by herself and her platonic friendships.

On proshipping and antishipping: I tend to think what matters is how you frame abusive relationships, not whether you depict them. I myself am an abuse survivor and I do write a lot about abuse because of it; I think what matters is if you're taking toxic dynamics and endorsing them wholesale, not whether you depict them at all. I also think survivors deserve representation; what matters is that you're not framing that rep as romantic and desirable. I don't reblog anything romancing stuff like pedophila and incest, but I do reblog things depicting abuse. I do not think making these topics taboo helps anymore than romanticizing them, but the reverse is also true; I do not think romanticizing abuse (esp without any awareness) helps anymore than making it taboo. I do not consider people making art of [toxic yuri/yaoi] (when the ships in question are not incest or pedophila, of course) as inherently romanticizing toxicity, as there is inherent acknowledgement in calling it that that it's toxic, and not every toxic or unhealthy ship is outright abuse (imo). I also do not inherently consider people making fix it AUs as romanticizing toxicity, because fix it also implies a level of awareness of the unhealthy factors. I do not even really consider fluffy AUs as doing so, because AU also implies awareness; as long as the dynamics between the characters in these AUs are not unhealthy yet romanticized in the text/art, it's fine. All of what I just said mainly applies to how I view Junkan, BTW.

Okay!! I can do headcanons about both sub!Haymitch and dom!Lenore Dove because OH I HAVE THOUGHTS!!! I'll do Haydove specifically at the end, but the ones before can apply to any SOTR ship involving Haymitch or Lenore Dove!! It's totally fine if you disagree, and I'm by no means a headcanon purist; I'm always opem to enjoying/being convinced of something different!

Below is character analysis, and SO MANY thoughts on the matter. This is long as fuck. I hope you enjoy <3

Submissive/Sub Haymitch

To provide some background to some of these, here's some general character analysis/background headcanons of Haymitch.

A major part of Haymitch's character, similar to Katniss, is his pa's death. Because of his pa dying when Haymitch and Sid were young, and because Haymitch was the oldest, he ended up shouldering a lot of responsibility in terms of ensuring that his family could survive. He works a lot of jobs, some more grueling than others, because that's how his ma has learned to survive while living in poverty, and without his pa around to help with his earnings, she can't make enough money to feed her and her kids. Haymitch had to step up as the "man of the house." He was also drilled to never waste things, whether it be time, handkerchiefs, or even flour bags. The Abernathys waste nothing and save everything because, especially in Willamae's philosophy, a penny saved is a penny earned. Because of this, I think that Haymitch wasn't able to indulge in a lot of childhood/general pleasures, because doing so usually came at a cost.

The pleasure of rest, for example; if Haymitch turns down a job because he's tired or sick, his family will have less money to eat, and so if something were to happen like Sid getting sick or one of Willamae's jobs being canceled last-minute, they would have less to fall back on, and would have less to eat.

Or the pleasure of being allowed to just "be a kid"; He had to shoulder a lot of the responsibility of raising Sid because if he didn't, it would solely fall to his ma, who isn't able to take it on alone. On top of this (through no fault of Willamae's to be clear; this is the result of a system, not of a neglectful parent) Haymitch feels like he can't always rely on his mother for emotional support, because she's already stretched thin, and while Haymitch can somewhat handle it, Sid is to young to know how. He also doesn't want his ma to feel guilty for having this burden placed on him in the first place either, because it's not her fault that it had to be put there.

It's not that Haymitch doesn't indulge himself sometimes; he does. It's just that he is always hyperaware of the potential tradeoff that could result from his choice to. By choosing to spend an afternoon at the lake with Burdock, is he potentially putting his family in a position to not be able to afford medicine if one of them falls sick? His ma is all too familiar with those constant calculations, and she taught Haymitch those too because again, they didn't have a choice. That's how you survive in the Seam of Twelve.

All of this to say that he developed the subconscious idea that him getting pleasure means that someone else is being denied it.

Okay. Keep all that in mind!!

Haymitch is someone who is INCREDIBLY eager to please. He enjoys giving pleasure as much as receiving. A lot of his "darkest" fantasies (dark and shameful to Haymitch, totally normal to everyone else lmao) involve him being used for his partner/dom's pleasure without regard for his.

As such, he is VERY into his partner(s) telling him where to touch. He likes when someone grabs his hands and places them on their body, likes being manhandled (especially by his hair), and likes being ordered what to do.

He very much enjoys giving up control in sexual situations. He likes being able to give the responsibility of what to do over to someone he trusts, and likes being allowed to live in the moment without fear of denial.

He also feels a lot of guilt if he feels like a majority of the attention is on him during sex. Whenever a lot of attention is paid to him and his pleasure during sex, he finds himself getting really guilty and trying to reciprocate in any way he can. That’s why the first time being tied down is introduced, it’s a total GAMECHANGER.

He LOVES being tied down, pinned down, any kind of thing where he can’t move without someone’s say so is INTOXICATING. Being tied down, he often can’t reciprocate, and so he’s forced to live entirely in the moment, just enjoying and taking whatever his partner gives. It takes a while for him to stop feeling at least a little bit guilty for being unable to reciprocate, but it honestly feels too fucking good to deny

He likes praise. Like, a lot. He gets self-conscious, but oh GOD, he craves validation and praise. He loves when his partner(s) praise him for making them feel good, loves when they say he’s being good, and loves being called “pretty,” “handsome,” “attractive,” etc. If he's called a "good boy" he will immediately lose all coherency.

I could make an entire separate post about Haymitch in subspace. But to summarize my thoughts, it's INCREDIBLY easy for him to get there, and the subdrop afterwards gets pretty intense for him. As soon as he starts coming down, he gets very clingy because he NEEDS to be held.

Haymitch likes penetrating and being penetrated. He likes toys like vibrators, but usually prefers them as an accompaniment to either recieving ro giving pleasure to his partner, not as a solo thing

Jesus, I have a lot of thoughts on this 😂

Dominant/Dom Lenore Dove

My reasoning behind Lenore Dove as a dom is a bit more simple than my reasoning for Haymitch as a sub, but I still have a lot of character analysis there. I talked about this in Blazing Desire, but I find it incredibly interesting how Clerk Carmine and Tam Amber don't really seem to fully trust her judgement, if you know what I mean? Clerk Carmine dismisses her dislike of performing for Peacekeepers, and criticizes her choice to date Haymitch. Both Tam Amber and Clerk Carmine warn her that her emotions will cause her to act stupidly. They comstantly dismiss her ability to figure out what's right for her and what is right in general.

In Blazing Desire, I explored it through the lens of Lenore Dove being autistic and the infantilization of autistic women, but the dom headcanon goes deeper than that. Lenore Dove wants control over her life; she talks about how she wants to be like a raven, with no one telling her what to do, say, or think. She wants to be able to do what's right without being confined by the people and systems around her.

(I think part of Lenore Dove's love for Haymitch comes from the fact that unlike Clerk Carmine or Tam Amber, he does trust her; even though he has doubts about her rebellious activities regarding the flag and the Hanging Tree, he doesn't press her and force her to confess her past crimes, and he admires and respects her more wild and free nature throughout SOTR, even trying to "set her free" from him in their final phone call.)

As such, Lenore Dove likes being trusted to take control of a situation. She likes being trusted to do what's right, and of course, that translates into the dom aspect; she likes that whoever is submitting to her is giving her their trust to control the situation at hand. They're trusting her judgement to determine what she and her sub needs at a given time, and Lenore Dove LOVES that aspect of it.

Okay. Headcanons!

Lenore Dove is not a "stereotypical" dom, and she struggled with this for a bit. When she began her exploration of her sexual relationships, she definitely did research into the world of BDSM, and after learning about the roles of "soft dom" and/or "gentle dom," she realized that yep. That's what she's into.

That isn't to say she doesn't get rough, because she abolutely does. But that roughness comes from a place of love and care for her partner(s), and a desire to attend to their needs as well as her own.

She keeps notes on her sub(s) (whoever that may be lmao). She determines their boundaries, what they like/don't like, and most of all, she studies their body language. She wants to know everything she can about caring for and pleasing her partner(s), and wants to make them feel loved and seen. She's a pro at all parts of BDSM, from the preparation to the sex itself and even the aftercare. Anyone who subs for Lenore Dove is gonna get the most thorough session of their life

She loves being able to put partners into subspace. She loves when they lose all inhibitions and care only about their own pleasure. She loves when they submit without the need of restraints or restricted movement, but she still THOROUGHLY enjoys tying her partner(s) down and/or mandhandling them if need be.

She's extremely heavy on the praise and comforting words. She does a lot of hair-stroking and petting, especially if she's recieving pleasure from them.

Deep down, she REALLY likes it when her partner(s) beg or cry for her. If they beg for her to let them come, or if they beg her to let them touch her, she gets INCREDIBLY turned on.

And of course, we all know about feral Lenore Dove! Just like Haymitch, she enjoys giving pleasure just as much if not more than recieving it. Once her partner(s) starts making noises or expressing how good they feel, it absolutely intoxicates her, and she ends up doubling down on them, solely focused on making them feel as good as humanly possible.

Dom/Sub Haydove

Some of these are based off the above headcanons

I've said this before, but Haymitch loves when Lenore Dove sits on his face. That's the most surefire way to get him into subspace; Lenore Dove sitting on his face, stroking his hair and moaning praises while he suffocates himself between her thighs. When she climbs off, he's all hazy-eyed and dopey.

Lenore Dove makes it a goal that she wants Haymitch to not feel guilty about asking her to pleasure him or communicating his desires. So she works him up to that goal with the stuff below

Lenore Dove figured out that she can assuage some of the guilt Haymitch feels when she focuses solely on him by letting him get her off first. So in the beginning of this whole journey, she usually gets him naked and worked up, lets him make her come, and then spends the rest of the time fucking him stupid.

She ties him down and makes him accept the attention. She spends a lot of the time while he's tied down just feeling him up with her hands and mouth, taking advantage of his inability to distract her so that she can indulge in one of her favorite actvities; body worshipping the fuck outta him

Also, from the tied-down sessions, she discovers that she can make him come more than once if she's strategic about it, so pretty soon Haymitch finds that he can't do sub sessions the night before a big event because she makes him come at least twice a session.

(She's still working up to that big final goal of no guilt, but it's SO much better than it used to be, and she loves it.)

yes, i did have to think a lot about this because none would come to the top of my head right away, but i guess if i have to say a ship that has zero chemistry - not a ship i dislike per se - but one so bland and incomprehensible to me, then that would be errormare lol.

look, no shade to those who ship errormare. i, myself, am a multishipper and a crackshipper so i have no room to judge people's tastes. but like, i cannot see the appeal of errormare. their goals don't seem to overlap much - not even align or oppose in any interesting way - for me to be invested in their personal stories when they are in a relationship with each other. i don't think error would even consider nightmare a hindrance to him in his personal quests, and nightmare would be wise not to cross error too much, so where's the fire there? they're also both misanthropists, in almost the exact same way, which presents no real conflict for me to care about.

AO3 ANALYSIS TIME!!! ☝️🤓

Lornatz for instance (my personal favorite) is the 3rd most popular Ignatz ship and it has half as many fics as the most popular Ignatz ship (Igraph), whereas for Lorenz it's the 7th most popular ship and it has like less than a tenth of the fics the most popular Lorenz ship (that being Claurenz) has. (I'm not mad tbh I fw Claurenz, not heavy necessarily but idm it. It's a bit sad for Ignatz though lol)

Then it's even worse if you look at the 4th most popular Ignatz ship (that being Sylnatz) because I don't feel like filtering through a gazillion tags in ao3 but I'm 99% sure those two aren't even top ten and Sylvain/Felix is THE most popular ship on ao3 at over FOUR THOUSAND FICS. Sylnatz has less than one percent of that. (Frankly I don't mind that, I cannot bring myself to care about Sylvain in any capacity even when he's being shipped with my favorite ever.)

Also even with Marignatz, which I wouldn't necessarily consider a rarepair (though I wouldn't consider it popular either), it may be the 3rd most popular Marianne ship (behind Marihilda and whatever tf Marianne x Dimitri is called), but it has less than a tenth of the fics that Marihilda has. Though it should be noted the gap between Marihilda and Marianne x Dimitri is also quite wide because everyone loves the cotton candy colored yuri.

At least for Raphael and Ignatz they're each other's most popular ships. That's cute and fun I guess. I honestly am not the biggest fan of romantic Igraph but it's cute and I support it.

(Also these numbers and fractions and shit are approximate because idk a good way to just rank ships by fics on ao3 without having to filter stuff out in order to get more stuff to show up on the tag list and that tends to mess things up. But I think they're like fine enough)

What I have noticed is that most of the few big Ignatz fans seem to be multishippers? Like I've met a lot of people who ship some combination of Marignatz/Igraph/Lornatz and that's fun I guess.

Anyway TL;DR Ignatz is a loser and so unpopular that he doesn't even crack top 3 in the ship fic counts for the top 3 people HE'S shipped with besides Raphael. But I love him.
