I’ll always prefer Creloise, Theloise, whatever Marina x Eloise ship name is called, Aroace Eloise, or literally anything over Philoise, because I feel like any of those ideas actually embrace Eloise’s character, her wild side, her feminist ideals, her rebellion, her flaws, especially her being unconventional in Regency society and desire to break free
Philoise, on the other hand, feels like they’re declawing her and removing her teeth to mold her into societal norms and become a stepmother to two kids (despite her being shown to be uncomfortable with children), having her discover the joys of marriage (ignoring her vehement feelings against marriage as an institution), and erasing the “annoying” parts of her personality to make her easier to cater to the masses
For those reasons, I just can’t really find myself rooting for Philoise, and I don’t think I ever will
