Basically which dragon i think the pjo characters would have and why. Also, i'm assuming most people in the pjo fandom aren't that deep into the httyd fandom, i could be wrong, but either way, that's why i explain quite a bit in this.
âĄď¸Jason Grace
- Skrill
A skrill is basically the poster child of lightning dragons and also one of the coolest. It's a very fast dragon that can pick up on behavior and patterns pretty quickly too. There is pretty much no better dragon for Jason
đPercy Jackson
- Sandwraith
I'm not actually satisfied with the one i picked for Percy, because the sandwraith is kind of lacking in anything really noteworthy. I wanted a water dragon for him, for obvious reasons, but it also can't be one that's in the water all the time, for also, obvious reasons. So it's either a sandwraith or a fanmade water dragon or a Deadly Nadder, which also wouldn't be that bad for him tbh.
đžGrover Underwood
- Rumblehorn
A Rumblehorn is a big ass dragon that can track anyone to anywhere. It's also a pretty smart dragon that's able to avoid traps set up by humans. All these traits make him a pretty good dragon for Grover, seeing how in canon Grover was tasked with finding lost demigods.
đFrank Zhang
- Deathgripper
Now hear me out on this one, there were quite a few options that would fit Frank, but in the end i just thought the deathgripper was the best/coolest choice for him. The other options for Frank were the Crimson Goregutter and the Rumblehorn. Both of which are pretty big dragons, the crimson goregutter being the biggest of the three. But i didn't just want to give him a big dragon. In canon Frank supposedly has a lot of animal knowledge (i saw supposedly because i haven't actually finished reading HOO), so i thought he'd be the best one to tame such a temperamental dragon and actually be able to treat it well.
đĽLeo Valdez
- Singetail
There are two reason i chose the singetail for Leo, one of them being the fact that this dragon can quite literally shoot fire out of every area. And i mean that literally. Mouth, duh, but also, chest area, armpits, butt (i think), just every area. That paired with its eyes that can see all around it means you are never sneaking up on this dragon. The second reason was the eyes, which are derpy ass hell.
đŚAnnabeth Chase
- Stormcutter
It's basically the owl dragon. Like seriously, there was no better pick. It's smart, perceptive, looks dope ass hell. What other dragon would make this much sense for Annabeth.
đ Hazel Levesque
- Haven't actually made a concrete choice for Hazel
I'd love to give her a dragon that kinda matches her powers, but there's only one that kind of comes close and that's only because it's shiny and that's a Razorwhip. It's a fast dragon, very loyal, and really perceptive. They're also sharp as fuck. I'd love for Hazels dragon to be a boulder class, sharp or mystery, but idk. The other options for Hazel were:
- Dramilion (pretty and smart, also very unique with different type of shots)
- Sentinel (blind, rocky and gothic)
- Catastrophic Quaken (Creepy, rocky and gothic)
- Whispering/Screaming Death (poster child of creepy dragons)
đŞśPiper McLean
- Triple Stryke
Unique dragon that doesn't border on the fem side since she has a hard time coming to terms with her femininity and what that truly means for her. It's also cool as hell.
đŠď¸Thalia Grace
- Thunderdrum
Hard headed, stubborn, and loyal. Am i talking about Thalia or the dragon? Both actually. That's why i think it suits her so well.
đ¨Luke Castellan
- Haven't really made a decision.
I think a monstrous nightmare would suit him best, but that's purely based on vibes and not much else, so i really don't know with him.
đNico di Angelo
- Boneknapper
Giant, creepy ass dragon that's covered in bones. It basically wrote itself tbh.
đşBianca di Angelo
- Razorwhip
This is because i wanted Bianca to be a wing maiden. Wing maidens are a tribe of women in the httyd lore that help raise baby razorwhips away from the fathers, because the fathers have a tendency to eat the baby's. Its a way to make sure the razorwhip species doesn't die out.
Anyway, i'd love to hear anyones thoughts on this đ

Death Song!Soap never knew what it meant to have dragons not fear him, for the moment he sang, he'd hypnotize them all.
Skrill!Ghost never knew what it meant to have safety, for he was always running from hunters.
But the moment Ghost crash-lands on Soap's home island after getting hit with dragon root, he awakens in a cave decorated with amber, and a Death Song with striking blue eyes watching over him.
@forestshadow-wolf I FIGURED OUT THE PREMISE FOR THE FIC
This is Berk. A bit trampled, busted, and covered in ice, but it's home. It's our home. We may be small in numbers, but we stand for something bigger than anything the world can pin against us. You see, we have something they don't. Oh, sure, they have armies, and they have armadas, but we... we have our dragons.â
Basil Oswald and the Caretaker of Dragons - Part 5
This has been languishing in Edit Hell and for that I am sorry.
Chapter 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - FFN - AO3Â
Now that he is facing the possibility of going back to the way things were, Basil hatches a plan [3112 words; a HTTYD!Whouffaldi AU]
Basil avoided going out for the better part of the next week, staying in the house and refusing to even leave his bedroom. Clara promised to not tell why he was sequestering himself for the time being, though she took a chance and had Bill be the one to bring her father his meals while he was doing his best impression of an ill hermit. The young woman would take a tray up, knock on the door, then leaveâit would be cleared when she went to check an hour later, and then the cycle would start over again.
Bill, howeverâas her stepmother correctly guessedâwas not the sort of person who was liable to keep going without question for long, and on the fifth day of her father moping, she brought the tray directly into the bedroom.
âFeeling better?â she asked. She saw that he was hiding under the blanket, avoiding her. âYou canât be that sick, are you? Should we go fetch one of the physicians in the Great Hall?â
âGo away,â he grumbled.
âWell, you donât sound sick,â she replied. She put down the tray and tugged the blanket from her fatherâs upper half, causing him to curl up at the chill in the air. âYou donât look sick either.â
âLeave me alone, young lady,â he ordered. Haâfat chance.
âClara!â Bill shouted over her shoulder. âCan you tell me whatâs wrong with Dad?â
âUilleam, donât you dare!â Basil threatened. He stumbled out of bed, falling on the floor and crashing into the wall as he got up again, reaching for his daughter with hands that grasped in not quite the right spots to get a good hold. âDonât you dare tell anyone!â
âTell anyone whatâŚ?â She looked Basil in the eyes and saw that he gaze wasâalthough forwardsâwas not entirely meeting with hers. âAre⌠are you blind againâŚ?â
âHe is,â Clara responded. She stepped into the room, having just come from putting Aodh down for a nap, and frowned. âBasil, you really just need to give it up.â
âI canât let people know that my visionâs gone again,â he said. âHow quick do you think they will brand me a liar?â
âDespite the fact that the number one rule that âthe Doctor liesâ is only partly sarcastic⌠not as quickly as youâd think,â Clara replied. She looked at her stepdaughter and the expression of confusion on her face. âYesâŚ?â
âWhat do you mean itâs gone?â Bill asked, scrunching her nose. âHe just fixed it.â She waited until her father was sitting back down on his bed before putting the tray in his lap, guiding his hands from his sides to the meal before him. âIt went back to normal after healing the dragons, so whatâs healed is healed, rightâŚ?â
âWhatever it was that made it click back into place must have gone away with sleep after he had last healed a dragon,â Clara mused. âI'm sure itâs like taking a nap to get rid of a headache, except we didnât want to get rid of this.â
âDo you think that it could still come back again?â
âWho knows?â Basil admitted. He sipped at his drink and frowned sadly. âIt could have only happened that once because it was something I was originally born with, or maybe it wasnât even supposed to happen at all.â
âYou got it back, for just a little bit, and thatâs what counts,â Bill said. She pulled her father close and gave him a hug, which he awkwardly leaned into. âWeâre here, Dad, and Iâm just glad for that. Now stop pretending youâre helpless and practice doing things again before we let you out into the rest of Berk. Those kids at the school are bound to be trip-hazards.â
âYeahâŚâ he reluctantly agreed. He reached up and held his daughterâs face, leaving a kiss on her forehead. There was a million things heâd rather do instead of practicing daily tasks without his sight again, but now⌠well⌠he had no choice.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
After a long afternoon of practicing, as well as heading to dinner in the Great Hall, Basil remained despondent. While Aodh seemed to take the news in the nonchalant stride typical of small children, the rest of Berk seemed curious and it irritated him. Their questions, though concerned and inquisitive and genuine, grated on him enough to the point he left immediately after dinner, with Clara walking alongside him as he tried to count his steps back again, making it with only one turn-around. He tried to retreat to the bedroom alone once in the house, though his wife had nothing of it, using the short window of privacy they had to remind him that he was no different to her.
Eventually, Bill came home with Aodh and it was time for the family to all ready for bed. Clara acted as though nothing was amissâas it had not been even long before the trip to Billâs former den that upended everythingâand they went about their routine as normal. She read aloud to her son as her stepdaughter volunteered herself to put together evening tea and her husband shuffled about in an effort to find errant toys to pick up. Insisting that it was the perfect family evening, Clara made it clear that there was nothing that was going to change her mind in that regard.
Eventually, the tea was had and the story was finished, which meant bedtime for everyone that night. Bill helped Clara wrangle a particularly defiant Aodh, while Basil sourly retreated to his room. He undressed and laid thereâroom already darkâand waited silently. It felt like hours, days, months, and years before Clara padded into their bedroom and joined him under the blankets, cuddling into his side supportively.
âGood night,â she murmured.
âNight.â
More time passed; he laid there, eyes open despite knowing the night hid most of the details of his bedroom and the world to those with sight. Lifting his right arm, he splayed his palm towards the ceiling, as though he was looking at the back of his hand.
âThere has to be something,â he thought. âI wonder how many dragons have to be sick for it to be permanent⌠how many times do I have to heal others to be able to heal myselfâŚâ He felt Clara shift next to him and she held his torso as she slept, clinging to him for once instead of the other way around. âWill all our children be grown when I can finally see them without a dragon suffering first? How long will I have with them after thatâŚ?â
Basil allowed his mind to wander, remembering clearly Claraâs face, Aodhâs face, Billâs face⌠gods, Bill was a haunting reminder of her motherâthough with some added height from him, thank goodnessâand he wanted to see the child he genuinely missed out on raising. He didnât want her to be alone for as long as he could help it, and if he could seeâŚ
âŚthat was it!
Was it an extreme long-shot? Of course it was. Then again, he was used to low odds, wasnât he? The odds of him surviving his sister attempting to kill him twice had been low. Surviving on his own, with only Idris for company? Lower. Hitting a skua that brought him to his second chance? His eldest child living and surviving and finding him again after so longâŚ? It had been a very, very, very small chance, and yet he was on the winning sides of all those odds. That is what he was though, wasnât he? A wild, lone dragon, plan and simple. He would have to wait to put his plan into action, though if he recalled correctly, it wouldnât be a long wait.
The only thing he did know, however, was that this was something he had to do alone. There was no way that Clara could come along, despite the fact she was going to insist the moment he told her of the plan. He had to be discreet about it⌠had to make sure that there was no way for her to possibly follow⌠though he was still going to figure out who to take along that would sufficiently ground her in Berk. There was Danny, as much as he disliked relying on him to help him look for things normally, and running off with his young son in-tow would be more like asking her to find him than anythingâŚ
...that only left one other person he could possibly trust with such a thing, and what right did he have to ask such a thing of her? Dare he bring back his daughter to the place that ruined their lives, that broke their family apart, that caused them to believe one another dead for well over a decade? Would the  intense risks involved to her be worth the reward, or would their mending relationship have a whole new wound open and risk it bleeding out?
He had no choice, Basil decided.
All he could really do was hope that she would forgive him.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
A few nights later, after much debating with himself and cautiously prepping while his wife and daughter were teaching at school, Basil decided that he was going to put his plan into action. In the middle of the night, he gently slipped out of Claraâs grasp once he heard and felt her fall asleep. It was simple work to find his clothes, pull them on, and carry his boots under his arm so that he made minimal noise as he counted the steps he took down the corridor. Softly entering his daughterâs room, he found Bill in her bed and gently shook her shoulder, waking her up.
âWhaâŚ?!â
âHush; come with me,â he whispered. He knew the look on her face, even if he couldnât see it, and walked out, trusting that she would follow. As he went out the room and down the stairs, he could hear her footfalls close behindâperfect.
âItâs the middle of the night,â Bill yawned. âWhat are you waking me up for?â
âWe need to go,â he said. Basil went to where he had hid his knapsack and began to gather up remaining supplies from where they normally sat.
âI just got here,â she replied, insulted. âI canât leave after I just got here⌠after I just found you againâŚâ
âWeâre going together. Idris, come here.â He snapped his fingers and the dragon in the corner woke up, completely alert.
âThis⌠this isnât like you,â she said. âWe have a whole family again⌠why are we going?â
âYouâll find out; now come on, I need you and Pilot,â he said. âWe have to move quickly.â
âWhy? Whatâs going on?â She watched him stuff some things in his bag and fumble around for others. âDad⌠whatâs going onâŚ? Answer me.â
âI told you: we need to move.â
âAre you and Clara⌠fightingâŚ?â
âNo, itâs justâŚâ He paused when she placed her hand on his, stopping him momentarily. Exhaling heavily, he closed his eyes as he attempted to keep his composure. âI need you to listen to me. We have to go before itâs too late.â
ââŚand leave Clara? Aodh? Idris? Berk?â
âWeâre taking Idris, and weâre coming back.â
âShould I write a note orâŚ?â
âNo needâwe should be back soon.â
âIâm still writing a note; what the hell is it that weâre rushing off to do in the middle of the night?â
Basil stopped and considered that. How much of his plan should he divulge? He calculated the risks and nodded slightly.
âThen tell her I know how to get my sight back now,â he said. âWe might not be back for a bit, but she shouldn't worry.â
âDad, where are we going?â
He did not answer.
âDad!â she snapped, trying not to shout. She grabbed his upper arm, stopping him from moving away. âWhere are we going?! Tell me!â
âBack,â he replied simply.
ââŚback whereâŚ?â
âGallifrey,â he said, âthe long way around.â Bill let go of his arm and he heard her take a step back.
âYou canât be serious.â
âI most certainly am,â he replied. He imagined the expression on her face, horrified and disgusted as her motherâs would have been, and it made his heart sink. âAs much as I enjoy the thought of the place, itâs the only way.â
âAfter all that happened thereâŚ?â
âYes.â
Bill exhaled heavily, the tone being the one that she had whenever sheâd known he or Mels had been right. âIâll meet you by the cliff at the edge of the wood.â
âKnew youâd see it my way.â He grinned, despite the fact he knew she was doing nothing of the sort.
âDoesnât mean I donât think youâre insane,â she mentioned. âNow go before I change my mind.â
Basil finished putting Idrisâs saddle on her and secured the packs to it before letting her outside. He climbed onto the saddle and secured himself into the tack before snapping the reins. The dragon grumbled before spreading her wings and taking off, climbing high into the air before gliding down to the agreed-upon meetup spot. They waited patiently, with Bill and Pilot landing next to them about ten minutes later.
âReadyâŚ?â she asked. âI donât even know how you plan on getting there.â
âYour old dad still has a few tricks,â he chuckled. He exhaled heavily and cleared his mind, feeling power begin to flow from his fingertips. Dragging his pointer finger over the back of Idrisâs head, he drew a circular glyph, knowing that it was the same soft, glowing gold from when he healed the dragons from Billâs den, though with none of the healing factor from before.
âWhat are youâŚ?!â
âBringing her back to her hatching grounds; now fly, Idris! To the beginning!â
The dragon roared and took off, leaving Bill and Pilot to hurriedly catch up.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
The sun was warm as Clara felt it shine down upon her face in the early morning glow. She opened her eyes and found that at some point earlier, Basil had left and Aodh crawled into the space left behind. Ruffling the boyâs hair to wake him, she watched as he sleepily opened his eyes and stared at her.
âHey, did you see Dad?â she asked.
âNo⌠and Billâs gone too,â Aodh murmured. He scooted closer to his mother and cuddled against her for warmth. âDid they go flying without me?â
âI think theyâre allowed a morning fly by themselves,â Clara chuckled. âYou know they have a lot to catch up on. They didnât see each other for a long time.â
âOhâŚâ the boy nodded. He paused, groggily calculating his next move. âIâm hungry.â
âThen letâs get dressed and head on down to the Great HallâIâm sure weâll meet Dad and Bill there,â she replied. Aodh squeaked and rolled off the bed before shuffling out of the room and down towards the nursery, leaving Clara to dress by herself. Once out of her nightdress and into day clothes, she found her son flopped unceremoniously atop his blankets, which made her scrunch her nose and try wrangling him in an effort to get the child to eat breakfast in time for them to head over to the school. She was so concentrated on getting him to move that she almost did not see the piece of paper on the sitting room table before they left.
It was a note.
âOh, hold on, let me see what Bill has to say,â Clara said, halting the morning proceedings. Aodh climbed up into a chair and curled up with a cushion and a hatchling that had gotten in overnight, cuddling with the warm dragon while his mother read the paper. The handwriting was shaky and unpracticed, but what time had her stepdaughter been able to afford towards her penmanship?
âClara,
âDad and I are taking Idris and Pilot on a long trip. I donât know when weâll be back. I donât want to go and leave you, but Dad is giving me no choice. He wants to fix his eyes so he can see you and to do that he thinks we need to go back to Gallifrey.â
Her heart skipped a beat as she read the note. Gallifrey. Basil and Billâs ancestral home. The place where Velda went mad and tried to kill her entire family. They were going thereâŚ?
âI will try to get him to turn back,â the letter continued. âPlease donât try to follow us. Even the best navigators can get lost trying to find this place. Tell Aodh weâre looking for a special dragon egg, so he can ride a dragon like Idris and Pilot one day. I think the excitement over possibly getting his own dragon will keep any tougher questions from needing to be answered. In fact, you can tell that to anyone who asks, if you want.
âItâs too soon to lose my dad again. I will bring him home. You can count on that.
âBillâ
It was all Clara could do to sit down on a chair instead of sinking directly down to the floor. She dropped the note as she did, her mind too occupied to be concerned with holding onto a piece of paper.
Gallifrey.
They had left for Gallifrey.
âMum? Whatâs wrong?â Clara snapped back to see that Aodh was now standing next to her, the dragon hatchling sitting atop his head as he stared up at her. âYou look scared.â
âOf course I do,â she smiled gently. âDad and Bill have left to go find dragon eggs without telling me first. I wanted to go along to help Dad, but now heâs taken off without me.â
âOh! Egg hunting! What kind of eggs?!â The boyâs eyes inflated as he bought the lie; the Number One Rule was that the Doctor lies, and he had yet to learn it.
âThey want to see if they can find you a dragon like Idris and Pilot,â she said, scooping her son up and carrying him towards the door. She put him down once they got outside and pointed towards the horizon. âNow theyâre somewhere out there, and I wouldnât even begin to know where to look.â
âI guess that means weâre stuck here,â Aodh nodded. He then looked up at his mother with a toothy grin. âShould we tell Uncle Danny? He gets worried about Dad sometimes.â
âYes, I think we should,â Clara agreed. âUncle Danny needs to know about this. Letâs go tell him right now, before breakfast. He will be very interested.â
remember that i mentioned a HTTYD AU? yeah! i ordered the art book :DÂ
first one:Â some time after Hanzo joined the sanctuary for dragons created by overwatch. Hes slowly getting comfortable around his brother again but not really with people in general. Most of the time hes wandering through the forests with his dragon(s) until at some point, Jesse joins him and some time later also Genji.
second:
Character sketches! Even if i donât actively ship Jack and Gabe i love their dynamics with each other and the whole lore is giving me feels so them being an item just seemed kind of natural?Â
Jack and Gabe are the head of their family with Gabe being the one leading on scouting missions and such and Jack more of a supporting character. The sanctuary was created by them after Jack almost drowned at sea, while they were out hunting. A dragon found Jack halfdead barely hanging on on one of the cliffs and brought him home to a dragons den.Â
When Gabe found him he fought the dragons thinking that they had killed Jack but then Jack jumped in front of him and explained what had happened.Â
Overwatch then settled down close to the den, setting up their base on the dangerous cliffs trying to find more dragons they could rescue from hunters.Â
Finding shipwrecks and/or survivors is literally a usual Monday morning and that was how Gabe found a teenage Jesse drifting on a piece of wood.Â
A few years later they found Genji, Jesse followed one of their rescued dragons who had found Genji heavily wounded on a small rescue boat and brought him back to the base. After he had recovered and told them about the hunter clan Shimada they kept their eyes open for any sign of that giant fleet whenever they went out to search for shipwrecks.
third:
Hanzo when he was with the family still and before the incident with Genji had happened. He left the clan after him and one of captured young dragon bonded. When he had seen the eyes of the dragon he was reminded of the night he had abandoned Genji and couldnât watch much longer and left with the dragon.
A few years later, Hanzoâs only goal is to destroy the fleet and on one of those attacks he meets Jesse and Genji on their dragons.Â
I still donât know how i can/will tell this story. Maybe ill try to learn how to write? because doing comics ... is also kinda interesting.......hmmm

This might be weird lol but imagine a how to train your dragon au. Brian as hiccup who needs to be the next chief but isnt built for it and most certainly doesnt want to kill dragons. Then theres roger whos like astrid and wants to be the very best viking he can be and is standoffish and kinda rude but is very sweet once he warms up to you. John who is the blacksmith apprentice and along with brian builds the new wing for the dragon brian captures (red after red special) p.1 hehe
P.2 httyd and freddie whos maybe visiting from another country and his men are trying to help with the dragon problem but he sees brian one day and follows him and meets his dragon. Then roger thinks freddie and brian are fucking in the forest but instead he sees a giant fucking red dragon thats all playful. Then they employ johns help for the missing wing web or whatever is wrong. Then they fall in love and help make the tribe stop hunting dragons. The end :))) (sorry this is long)
i kind of really love this??? you're so right brian would definitely be hiccup, he's so soft and he doesn't want to kill anything ever, he just wants to make friends with every animal even the dragons!! i can totally see roger as astrid too, he seems so grumpy and even mean and scary but when brian finally manages to get to know him a little better he finds that he's actually such a little sweetheartâ an angry, adorable little sweetheart. i love john as the blacksmiths apprentice too!!! like he just loves to build and make things and the idea of john making the new wing for brians dragon đĽşđĽş i love it!!
TSS HTTYD!AU; For those of you asking about how Virgil found himself amongst his Dragon Family, if you asked Virgil, he would tell you he doesnt remember much, other than being very cold, and that heâd always been amongst the Dragons his whole life.
If Patton could speak, heâd tell you he found a small kid somewhere around the age of 9 in the snow one winter in the middle of the âUnknownâ dragon forest, terrified out of his mind and barely concious of anything. The child showed no fear to Patton, and was trembling wildly, and Patton knows to this day it had not been because of the cold. Patton would bring the child to Logan, and they would grow to become very protective of Virgil as they raised him, but with no way to tell Virgil, and under the understanding that whatever had happened to Virgil had been sealed off from his own memory, they just continued to raise him.
Patton and Logan very much play parental roles as well as serious companion roles in Virgilâs life, Patton and Logan pretty much both count as father figures and mother figures to him as well. Logan teaching him how to hunt for food while Patton praises him when he gets things right, Patton taking Virgil for his first few small flying rides while Logan will mother hen over virgil and ruffle everything up until heâs sure his little fledgeling is safe.
He pretends all the time ă Ą for his parents, for his friends. He pretends he knows what he's doing, pretends that the course set in front of him doesn't make him feel sick.
But when he watches that tiny creature emerge from a shell of dark emerald, egg residue and shell still clinging to too-thin wings and a broad snout, Wooyoung decides he doesn't want to pretend anymore.
