it’s very funny how harry spends most of book 6 actively convinced that ron will murder him for having a crush on ginny meanwhile ron has been all but begging ginny to choose harry since at least book 5 like ron wants harry to become a weasley so so bad. and i know another way in which ron could make that happen but alas these kids are blind to many things
i’m forever inconsolable about this…. the fact that both ron and hermione just… promise harry to go with him on his life-threateningly dangerous mission without even having to think on it. like truly less than a minute before this hermione was saying that she couldn’t bear the thought of never going back to hogwarts and she and ron were talking about how they hoped hogwarts wouldn’t close and then the SECOND they learn about harry’s plan not to come back they just. abandon everything they’ve ever known in order to follow harry on his suicide mission as if there was never any doubt and never any option that makes sense to them more than this one, the one where they go with their harry. it’s devastating is what it is. these kids are each other’s people and they don’t have to think twice before promising each other their lives basically
safety warning. when reading the harry potter books DO NOT play a drinking game where you take a shot every time harry or ron try to aggressively defend each other’s honour. you will get alcohol poisoning
harry being overtaken by the sudden bone-deep certainty that something is horrifyingly wrong with his best friend a split second before anything alarming actually happens … curious

oh the girls are fightinggg. i had to take out popcorn for this…. first of all no one has mastered the art of obliterating someone with a few sentences quite like ginny has i’m deeply impressed … we have une artiste in our midst here ☝️. second of all keeping in mind she’s aiming to say precisely the things that will hurt ron most it’s very interesting she chooses to taunt him with hermione’s previous relationship AND with harry’s.. in the same breath… i know it’s all about comparing ron (<- bitchless) to his peers (<- covered in bitches) to make him feel like a loser but if you ponder the implications it’s almost as if ginny thinks the heartache ron will feel imagining hermione kissing someone else falls within the same category as what he feels when imagining harry kissing someone else. Oh btw on a different unrelated note while ginny is busy decimating her brother, harry is.. pushing him up against the wall ?
much to think about… harry being scared to upset the balance in their friend group .. him being just as scared of the scenario where ron and hermione fight each other as he is of the scenario where they shut harry out …. this is all normal for a friend group but it gets an extra dimension of desperation in harry’s case because harry has attachment issues from his traumatic childhood and these are the only two ppl on EARTH he has managed to get this close to. no one else shares the privilege of knowing this much about harry and his vulnerabilities and his inner world …. the same is true the other way around, he knows more about them than he knows about anyone else. they’ve chosen to be in each other’s company for years on end now and have all but laid down their lives for each other. like i won’t lie i don’t think that harry could ever allow anyone else to get this close.
like ..ginny is so cool but not even she was there throughout all of it, the trust the golden trio have was built on years of close proximity, a shared daily life, shared secrets, shared life-threatening situations… i might expand on this later but i genuinely think everyone else kinda missed the window of time that held most of the circumstances that create the opportunity for a bond as deep as theirs. i dont think ginny could ever know him as intimately as his best friends do bc frankly ron and hermione are the only ones who went through enough with harry at the right time for him to allow such a close bond with them…. ginny will compensate for this by never even trying to obtain the emotional closeness that cho demanded, the emotional closeness that pushed harry away from cho, and this is how harry can bear to be with ginny without immediately pushing her away (that and ginny’s obviously just fun to be around + attractive). but the moment the harry/ginny relationship reaches a more serious stage i think harry’s attachment issues or ginny’s reluctance to even demand that emotional intimacy from him will cause problems… how can they ever know each other the way lovers should? where will harry get the closeness he desperately craves despite not being able to bear it from most ppl except ron and hermione? where will ginny get the closeness she deserves from a lover? i think at some point ginny and harry will realise they can never fully give each other what they need… the harry/ginny relationship is doomed to remain superficial
anyway i got off track LMAO. back to the scene above. much to think about indeed
