At Mr E's Game World booth at Historicon, 2026: Lots of old Avalon Hill games, some from Milton Bradley's Gamemaster Series (Fortress America, Samurai Swords, and the original Shogun box under the table), and their American Heritage series (Battle Cry, Dogfight, Skirmish, plus Broadside down below), and Ideal's official Combat! board game from the TV show. I remember the Bermuda Triangle game being advertised a lot, but King Oil was new to me, a game with a creative mechanic for oil exploration and drilling that uses 3 disks below the board that are turned before the game to create a 4-layer puzzle of holes with over 1000 possible combinations representing drilling sites.
The guy who runs Heavy Gear Blitz is Canadian and travels south to the US for cons. Well of course the Canadian wildfire smoke arrived here on Wednesday, the first day of the con. We teased him about bringing the smoke with him. Extra funny since today, the last day of the con, it's mostly cleared up here. He's taking it back with him as he leaves lmao
