Down in the dark we go! This week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, we check out the classic board game Dungeon! (1975). The origins of the game are entwined with the origins of Dungeons & Dragons, and all the dungeon crawling board games since owe Dave Megarry’s creation a debt of gratitude.

Dungeon!, the game of fantasy adventure, Larry Kessling box art for 1st and 2nd editions, TSR, 1975. Dungeon! designer David R Megarry was a player in Dave Arneson's original Blackmoor campaign, prior to the 1974 publication of D&D. Megarry demonstrated a playable version of this game by 1972, originally titled The Dungeons of Pasha Cada, which contributed to the early concept of the dungeon as an underworld realm for exploration.
