Let me guess, what you think
She's tall, blond hair, probably well educated, has a curvy body and is her own boss!
My name is Dženita Dženeta Crnovršanin.
a refugee child.
What do you think of me now?
Still the tall, independent blond haired, curvisious, educated, integrated young woman?
What else might you think after me telling you that I'm not Christian?
Well, free faith for everyone right?
No matter what religion. Right?
What if I told you that I'm a Muslim.
Born and raised, a Muslim.
Am I still your tall independent blonde Haired, curvisious, educated, integrated young woman? Or did the the stereotypes slowly start taking over your mind?
You're probably telling yourself
Well you might be different!
You seem like a nice young lady
But why would you think that? Isn't my sister a nice lady? Isn't my mother a nice lady? Isn't my grandmother a nice lady? Wasn't my grand grandmother a nice lady? And her mother? And her mother? And her sisters? And her sisters?
Am I a nice young lady cause I have no 'towel' on my head and not saying 'allahu akbar' in front of you or because you've never seen me publicly put my head and nose on the ground, which is called "sujdoo". A part of our prayer. The probably purest position on earth cause it keeps us grounded.
How do you know so much about me? Or why do you think to know so much about me and the faith I have?
Why do you keep on shouting 'We are all equal' but whenever I go to the mosque with my hijab on, you decide to not sit next to me or even stare at my head while I lower my eyes and stay quiet cause I know what you're thinking.
I feel your thoughts! They are like bullets on my body and your eyes are like knifes on my skin.
The next time you see me, with or without hijab, I want you to smile back at me when I gift you with a heart warming one cause there's nothing purer than 2 strange souls showing each other love and appreciation
