every single person in this movie holds such a special and spiritual place in my heart. the beauty of being oneself in a world that is built to bring you down is nothing short of a brave, beautiful, and joyous experience. finding a space where everyone becomes their idealistic and dreamed version of themselves, where everyone around them shares the same outlook and lived experience is so unique and beautiful. this film truly shows how hard trans and black activists fought for our right to exist, to take up deserved spaces, and to be out and proud without the same battles they faced everyday. the queer community today often overlooks the impact of those who came before us, and though, i cannot speak to the black or trans experience personally, i think the most beautiful quote comes in the form of “Some of them say that we're sick, we're crazy. And some of them think that we are the most gorgeous, special things on Earth.” Truly, the most beautiful and vibrant people to ever exist, and this film expresses it so sincerely, with a warmth i’ve never seen before.
