I got chased by a giant evil horse who wanted to eat me. Prettiest horse I've ever seen. His name was Van Chist. He had bright red eyes, he was dark purple and black, and shadows steamed off his skin like the fog that comes off dry ice.
I met him in an evil Home Depot, which is just like a regular Home Depot.
Also the lights slowly turned off from the walls to the center of the store. He wanted out and so did I. A tenuous alliance was made, and then I woke up.
I miss Van Chist even if he wanted to peel the skin off my body and eat the organs out of my abdominal cavity like he would feed from a trough.
Inktober, Day 12: Dragon
He looks more like a gargoyle, but yeah. I still like him.
@the-duality-pirates continued from here
At the whistle and the shaking of the ground, without a doubt they were beyond attempting to sneak out among the chaos because even a blind person could feel the rumbling of the quickly approaching creatures.
It wasnât a surprise that Judas wanted to include all three of his children, because they were clearly more then pets and Valerie could understand and respect that.
She turned when Judas addressed her and gave him a warm smile and nod of her head. She wished that the three of them could meet under peaceful circumstances, and one day that might happen. That was the goal of Judas, Kathrine and their crew, to make the world a better place by bringing justice to those who thought they were above the law. She worried about them, they were her friends and they risked their lives, even Kathrine because she reminded her so much of Yui, grumpy but with a good heart.
âThank you, Judas-san. I know Iâm safe with the both of you!â She turned and gave Kathrine a small smile and nod of her head.
Once the three Hell Beast were before them, Valerie found herself in awe of them. A Basilisk, a Panther and an Albino Wolf, three beautiful creatures that seemed to match the personality of their handler. Valerie reached out a hand, not quite to pet them but to let them sniff her, to know her scent before she could run a hand over them. The cold, wet nose of the wolf bent his head down, sniffing as the gush of hot hair blew against her freckled skin.
There were distant shouts growing louder, there was no question that the Marines were forcing through the frenzied and excited fans who were still filled with excitement from the performance their idol had given them, many of them wouldnât have had a chance to see Judas otherwise.
âThey look just as beautiful and amazing as they did the first time I met them! Though outdoor lighting fits them better than the small lighting of the compound where I first met them.â
Valerieâs fingers gently traced over one of the golden bangles that gently jingled on her wrist with the slightest movement of her hand, making note that she would have to spend time with her own special friend when she was able to get back to Yui and the boat.
âIf there is ever a free moment that you and Kathrine have, and its safe, I really want us to meet and spend more than a few moments together, and not sprinting a marathon, though at this rate I wonât have any trouble keeping up with the both of you!â
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Valerie found that giving someone a reason to smile could make the situation slightly more bareable, and although Kathrine didnât seem to approve of the time and place for joking, Valerie knew that it was simply because the woman was very focused on her job, protecting the people she cared for but that did not mean she didnât appreciate it under normal circumstances.
Valerie glanced over her shoulder once more towards where they had run from, though they had a small head start they couldnât waste their time. She turned back around to face her friends. âWhat are we going to do now?â she asked Judas.
"This is why we can't have nice things, mom"

Phoenix
It kinda hit all at once, as I sat on my bed that night. Â The news I had received earlier that Tuesday sank into my brain letter by letter, planting a very serious understanding within my mind. Â In that moment, everything else in the room faded to the background. Â The usual banging around of the other tenants muted themselves. Â It was like I was the only person in that entire apartment building. More like everyone in the city of Tacoma vacated to the outskirts to give me some space. Â It was just me and those words. Â It was just me and the phrase: âYou could have died.â
This phrase is not attached to something grandiose. Â I was not almost hit by a bus, or eaten by a megalodon. Â I did not almost lose my life defending my friends from a hoard of hell beasts or a pack of insatiable zombies. Â I was not the virgin sacrifice to ensure that Mount Rainier remains dormant for another century or so. Â (Although, what the hell? Â If youâre in need, give me a ring. Â Iâm not guaranteeing the two of us will hit it off, but I think we could be fast and great friends. Â Iâll buy you all some time to get outta dodge when things get bleak.)
If Death had had its way, I would have never known that I was on my out. Â One moment Iâm here, the next Iâm not. Â It would have been a magic trick that, I would hope, not many would applaud for at its completion.
I will say, even if that was the case, I would not have gone quietly.
You see, last year, I was admitted to the hospital for a routine appendicitis.  (Please see [Appendix Here] post.)  The fucker, weâll call him Fester, had dilated itself to 11 cm, swelling to three times its normal size.  (Seeing as the surgeon pulled Fat Fester out through my belly button laparoscopically, the bestie, Bea, has made me an honorary womanâŚsince I essentially gave birth. Thanks, Bea, I will, with all sincerity, carry this honor with me always.)
The medical report indicated the appendix had started to, well, fester and become necrotic, zombified, if you will. Â Bacteria was able to slip through the dead tissue, making my blood septic. Â Let the record show, one never wants to be described as âseptic,â if for no other reason than that it makes one think of septic tanks. So, in that moment, if I had been conscious, I would have told you that I had never felt so shitty in my entire life. Why wasnât I conscious? Â It could have been for a variety of reasons. Reasons that you are able to be clued in on. Â Read on, audience!
Iâm not entirely clear on the timeline. Â I actually lost consciousness shortly after I was admitted to the hospital. Â My doctor posits I went into shock around that time. Â I do remember laying in that hospital bed in that empty room, shaking violently the night before the operation; like every inch of me was freezing, yet I did not feel cold. From there, the dark part of my soul took over, my evil twin. Â I became belligerent and combative and was promptly restrained. Â Bea thought I became a sort of super villain, simply looking a person up and down and reducing them to a hysterical, sobbing mess with the utterance of a single, cutting, and acidic word.
If onlyâŚ
If only I was that devious. If only my dark side was the real problem. Â Thereâs a bit more to the story.
Hereâs what the fragments of the medical report and my doctor have helped me piece together. Since I went septic, my bodyâs temperature shot up to 106 ËF. Â As Biff, my dear friend who has experience in this department, shared, I moved into a realm where Death was very real. Â Unbeknownst to me, your body canât really handle being that hot for too long. Â To complicate matters, my heart does this thing where it regurgitates blood. Â Blood moving from the atrium to the ventricle and then from the ventricle to the lungs splashes back. Â In a non-life-threatening scenario, my heartâs special kind of acid reflux is actually nothing to worry about. Â Iâm not sure why it does this. Â Perhaps because I was born with a heart murmur? Â But that closed up years ago.
Sorry. Â Back to it. Â I could have waved back to Death, if I wasnât busy hallucinating from the fever and the bacteria that might have penetrated the blood brain barrier, making nurses cry whilst speaking in tongues, trying my hand at bondage, and tripping on the opiates the doctors had given me for the pain. Â I never do things easily, and as you can see, I wasnât going to go quietly.
âTake a number, Death,â Iâm sure I said at some point, past whatever images were casting themselves on my eyeballs.  âUh-huh. I get it, you have âdarkâ and âmysteriousâ locked downâŚall cool in that shredded hooded cloak thingy.  Is that Hot Topic?  Thereâs no way those tatters werenât deliberate.  YeahâI see it.  Lord knows we canât forget about that scythe youâre brandishing.  What are you compensating for?
âTell you what, why donât you pop on over to the terminal ward for a beat or two. Â Iâm not going anywhere. Â I am literally tied up at the moment.â
When I came to, I was rather unhappyâŚis how I would describe it if I were a less cynical person.  In truth, I felt murky and fuzzy and cheated. I came back from a war that I almost lost, and, it seemed no one, including me, knew how close I had come to losing my footing from the edge of that proverbial cliff we all affectionately know as human existence. Â
I wish I could tell you that I came back from this stronger and wiser. Â I wish that I could tell you I came back with super powers or a spoiler regarding if and what is on the other side. Â (Never gonna let that grudge go, by the way. Â Something? Â Anything for my troubles? Â Mind Reading? The gift of foresight? Â No?) Â If anything, I think I came back more broken or turned around. Â My mind, and maybe even my spirit, were mangled and badly banged up. Â We wonât even get into what shape my physical state was. Â I was fucked up, yâall. Â Until I finally requested the medical report, I lived with this gap in my life, specifically August 31, 2016, the day I lay in a hospital bed nonresponsive and questionably all there, for about ten months. Â
While some questions have had some light shed on them, others still whisper from the corners of the dark recesses of my mind. Â
âWhat ifâŚâ one voice trails off.
âWhy didnât you die?â another wonders.
âDoes this mean youâre meant to do something big?â a third queries.
âIs that cheesy?â the first voice questions the third.  âI mean, can we believe fate is actually a thing.  I know we used toâŚâ
Iâm still on the fence about fate. Â I want to believe in that sort of magic and serendipity. Â Iâm truly trying. Â Iâve decided to look for a silver lining. Â (You all should be proud. Â I donât usually buy into this positivity stuff.) Â Whether or not I ever left or came back, I am still here. Â I was engulfed in a heat that could have evaporated the very soul from my meat shell, yet most, if not all of me, held firm. Â Letâs say I was reborn that August 31st. Letâs say that was the day I became a Phoenix.
And just like a newborn, mythological creature or baby of the regular variety, I came back disoriented and confused. Â I had to reorient myself in what the hell life is. Â Should I continue to live it in the same way I always have? Â Should I make some edits? Â This potentially dying thing seems like a really big note to me. Â I have, for these past few months, been collecting myself, spinning my wheels, clearing away my confusion, getting really angry at times, and, again, establishing who I am in this, often annoying, yet sometimes pretty okay existence.
Maybe I am still here because Life wants to show me something amazing. Â Maybe Iâm meant to do something awesome with this person you all know as Neurdotically. Â (Ahemâpublish a novel. Â Cough. Cough. Â Hack. Â Wheeze. Excuse me.) Â Maybe Iâm here because I still have a role to play in the lives of others. Â Perhaps itâs someone close to me. Â Perhaps itâs someone who has yet to cross my path. Â Maybe I still have a lesson or twenty to learn.
I donât know.  All of this conjecture could just boil down to a simple, you were saved in time and that is that.  Nothing special.  Nothing to see here.  Just go exist somewhere in a cornerâŚ
I do intend to move forward and find out, or maybe Iâll just say, âFuck it,â and live my life on my terms.
Just know this: When I do die, Iâm coming for your job, Death. Â (Eats slice of apple off of switchblade, and gives Death the hairy, twitchy, mad eyeball.)
Happy women's day! This is an oc of mine named Nina Thomson. She's a strong female character from (one of my WIP comics) Hell Beasts! Just wanted to draw her :/ but yeah go women!
Inktober, Day 28: Ride
It was supposed to be a creepy goat-demon creature from hell, but itâs actually pretty cute. đš
