When it comes to the batfam discovering that Tim Drake is missing his spleen, it is typically portrayed either as an injury or illness becoming very problematic due to his lack of a significant part of the immune system, or some kind of argument about Tim feeling that the batfam doesnāt care about him in the same way he cares for them. While both of these are entertaining, I find the more mundane conversational bombshell approach: someone is missing their appendix, another has had their tonsils out, someone still has all their organs, andā¦ what do you mean you donāt have a spleen??
Re: medical question -how are you feeling after the surgery? Any sensations? I heard that when getting the appendix removed you also get stitches - do they feel weird in any way?
I got a laparoscopic appendectomy, which means thereās three small holes rather than one large incision. I canāt really feel individual stitches, but it does hurt a lot. I left the hospital an hour or two after surgery, and slept for three hours when I got home. But the next 12 ish hours after were agony! I couldnāt inhale without feeling like my insides were being ripped apart, and if I forgot to breathe for a second the pain was as bad as before I went to the hospital. In the couple days after surgery the pain is in more specific areas (I assume thatās where the incisions are, since to me itās just under the bandages)
As far as feeling weird, my whole belly feels tight like when your bladder is full, but other than that, it just stings and aches

Also feels worth noting that I have a condition that means I have chronic pain and pain meds are less effective for me

I too, love a good Irondad appendicitis fic! I've written two of them! I think I would happily write another if a good idea, that was different enough from my other two, popped into my head. But for now, I'm not sure what that would look like...

When I got my appendix taken out: I was nine years old, in a foreign country and had to leave the hospital early in order to get on a plane even though I really shouldnāt be flying yet. Itās was fine, cannon event, it was character development.
What Iām trying to say is that Billy Batson does not deserve an appendix and should have it ripped out immediately
I spent two weeks wasting away on a couch watching glee. I remember none of it.
I want him to experience the superhero equivalent of that. Like, yeah when heās powered up heās fine, but will he remember to power up? Like, he shows up to a meeting two days late because heās been delirious all week and doesnāt remember waking up.
