We are here to appreciate Kazuki Kurusu
Which means we are here to appreciate him through his good qualities and his flaws
Which means we are here to appreciate:
How he took care of a stray Rei despite knowing he'll probably get nothing in return from the barely-functioning adult (it was also probably a way for him to care for someone)
How he put the job on the line for a child he'd met a few minutes ago (also the way he looked at Miri after she called him Papa is so tender I can't—)
How he bought Miri expensive clothes thinking it's better for her based on his own experiences and ended up being the reason she was lonely and had no friends for the first few days
How he noticed when something was wrong and actually asked Anna so he can fix it (he hadn't left until he was sure she was okay)
How he insisted Miri couldn't possibly know what was right or wrong, without listening to the full story
How he realized, in the end, that Miri does know better, and that he can be wrong sometimes
How he left house without picking up his phone for two days, leaving Miri with Rei, who he knows is a barely-functioning adult and can't take care of Miri on his own (he'd left food in the fridge, but it doesn't make it better), leading to Miri getting sick and him not knowing and leaving Rei to deal with it alone
How he immediately felt bad the second he realized something had happened while he wasn't there
And let's not forget that in the end, when they decided to take Miri for real this time, he declared there will be proper division of labor so this won't happen again
We need to acknowledge that he's flawed, and that's why he's perfect
