There's this theory when passing your opponents guard that you shouldn't skip lines. Octavio Couto presented this to me, first you should start at the ankles ( line 1) then proceed to knees (line 2) next is the hip line (line 3), after that the chest line ( line 4) and finally head control (line 5). This is an example of drilling and moving up the lines in order. If you skip one of the lines during a passing sequence you tend to lose control therefore losing the pass. Next time you watch someone passing another's guard, just take a mental note, if there was a success did they consciously or subconsciously follow this rule. If there was a failure, did they not follow this rule. Let me know your thoughts. #guardpassing#bjj#bluebelt #conditioning #jiujitsu #drillersarekillers #whitebelt#jiujitsu#jiujitsutheory #philiosophy#bjjlife#bjjlifestyle#concepts#ufc#mma#grappling#wrestling#purplebelt#brownbelt#blackbelt#netflix (at James O'Connor Martial Arts & Fitness)
