i've been sick for the past few years and i'm finally getting back into exercise, but i'm having a lot of issues with nausea. is there something i should be doing to prevent this? and what should i do when i get nauseous during a workout (esp group workouts when i can't stop the class to try and settle my stomach)?
Some things that help me with nausea include chewing mint gum (my mothers finds sucking on a mint helps her but for me that makes it worse), drinking carbonated drinks, hot lemon water, or candied ginger.
Try to figure out which exercises cause the nausea and maybe don’t do those. It could also be that you’re going to hard so maybe dial it back a bit to see if that helps (if I run for too long I feel nauseous and have to sit out for a bit).
You should go off to the side during group workouts to settle your stomach; it isn’t stopping the class and it’s perfectly fine. If you want, you can tell the teacher you might need to take breaks and sit out during the class (you don’t need to tell them why if you don’t want to do so). They might come over and check on you but they will probably just tell the class to keep doing x while they go over to you.
